I started this diet on Tuesday and here it is Saturday already. I’ve lost 4 pounds in 5 days which feels like an unbelievable achievement to me.
Attack Phase:
- Day 1 – I weighed in at 127.8 lbs (12 lbs over goal weight)
- Day 2 – I weighed in at 125.0 lbs (10 lbs over goal weight)
- Day 3 – I weighed in at 124.2 lbs (9 lbs over goal weight)
- Day 4 – I weighed in at 124.2 lbs (9 lbs over goal weight)
Cruise Phase:
- Day 5 – I weighed in at 123.2 lbs (8 lbs over goal weight)

Yes, today is day 5 and I weighed in this morning at 123.2 lbs. I am so excited but it’s not always easy… I have three other people in the house that I need to cook for. Tonight I am drinking water while they are eating popcorn (my FAVORITE snack) and watching a movie. Times like these are hard…
So I printed this and put it on my fridge…

Now, someone gave me a little flack about losing weight, so I want to make sure I am not giving any misconceptions here. I do realize I am not obese or heavily overweight. And I do realize that I am within a “normal” range for a typical American. However, I feel the best and have the most confidence when I am in my size 4 pants and I will do whatever it takes to achieve my goals, regardless of what other people think. Sure I am an acceptable size, but why settle for ok, instead of great?
I am not sharing my weight loss experience to incur judgement or make people feel bad. I’m here, just keeping it real, sharing my dreams, goals and achievements and hoping that my weight loss journey will encourage someone else on their own path with losing weight.
While most diet and weight loss programs fail, the Dukan Diet was created to reverse the conditions of overweight and obesity.
In the 1988-1994 surveys, 33 percent of Americans were overweight, 22.9 percent were obese and 2.9 percent were morbidly obese. The numbers have edged up steadily since. (It’s been forecasted that 3 out of 4 Americans will be overweight by 2020!)
Being overweight or obese raises the risk of heart disease, diabetes, some cancers, arthritis and other conditions.
In May 2009, the CDC reported that 32 percent of U.S. children fit the definition of being overweight, 16 percent were obese and 11 percent were extremely obese.

That’s just sad…. The obesity in America is alarming.
I currently, today, have a BMI of 22.49. A normal and healthy BMI is between 18.5 and 24.9. Obesity and overweight are calculated using the formula called body mass index. BMI is equal to weight in kilograms divided by height in meters squared. Someone with a BMI of 25 to 29 is classified as overweight, 30 to 40 counts as obese and people with BMIs of 40 or more are morbidly obese. Click here to calculate your BMI.
It should also be noted that I AM PETITE! I gain most of my weight in my hips, thighs and rear making me a pear shape. Because of this, 5 extra pounds on me, looks like at least 10 pounds and means going up at least 1 pant size. On most folks, 5 lbs isn’t even noticeable. Honestly, I don’t want to argue with people on whether or not I need to lose weight. It’s all relative!!! I’m sure some people might think I’m fat and I’m sure others would be happy to look like me. To each his own.

Moreoever, if you are trying to lose weight or you WANT to lose weight, your “ideal” weight may not be right for you. Dr. Dukan calculates your “true weight”.

I used this calculator to get my “true weight” and it said 114 lbs. I was surprise because initially my goal was 110 lbs. But that’s fine! I am okay with being 114 lbs. I would be happy to just get under 120 lbs…
And on that note, I drank 32oz of water while writing this post. Win! :-)
