Summer 2010 Hairstyle Tips and Tricks

With the warm summer months quickly approaching, it’s all about ease, free-loving strands that stand against humidity. Below, Elie Gerdak, owner of the Elie Elie Salon in Tyson’s Corner, VA, shares what’s hot for summer 2010…

“Summer is all about healthy locks that defy humidity and thrill! Whether you’re headed to the beach or for a night out on the town, your hairstyle should emulate the upcoming trends – curls and volume!”

    * Treat yourself to a hydrating masque that will infuse your locks with moisture. After days at the beach or poolside, your dried-out hair will thank you for giving it a little TLC. Apply Elie Elie Revitalizing Treatment Masque No. 5 to locks and take a seat outside under the sun and enjoy a relaxing and beneficial conditioning treatment. SRP: $39.
    * The biggest trend this summer? The side ponytail. To achieve this look brush hair free of snarls, grip the hair behind one ear and twist a hair tie around the ponytail. Cover the band with hair by wrapping in around and over the band, next, use a large barrel curling iron to create huge, loose curls.
    * We saw controlled frizz all over the runway this year. To perfect the look make sure that all hair is free of tangles, add a generous amount of Elie Elie Polishing Gelée, No. 7and embrace your curly ‘do! SRP: $26.
    * Volume, volume volume! Be sure to invest in hot rollers to achieve ultimate volume and large curls. Indulging in Elie Elie’s Élixir Bouclé for fine to medium hair, No. 8will prep your hair for a volumized look. First apply a generous amount of No. 8, dry the hair, set with hot rollers, allow the roller to cool completely and then finger comb curls. SRP: $27.

Chloe Introduces Three Floral Scents for Spring 2010

Present from the early days of famed Parisian House Chloé, flowers have always left their mark at the very heart of the brand. Chloé enters a new floral chapter in the eau de fleurs collection with the launch of three new fragrances: Lavande, Capucine, and Néroli.

The new feminine, yet understated collection was driven forward by Artistic Director Hannah MacGibbon and created by a trio of female perfumers, Domitille Bertier (IFF), Aliénor Massenet (IFF) and Louise Turner (Givaudan). Inspired by memories of fantasized nature, the Chloé eau de fleurs collection pays homage to three essences: lavender, nasturtium and neroli.

Lavande: Inspired by the freshness of summer days, this feminine fragrance featured the noblest of lavenders obtained from the best French harvests.
Capucine: Featuring the simple nasturtium flower, this crisp scent blends refreshing bergamot, lemon and juniper berry for a modern, refreshing finish.
Neroli: Vibrant and spicy, this woody scent combines mandarin and orange with typically masculine rosemary and neroli.

Housed in luxurious glass bottles with minimal lines and a metal cube stopper, this iconic bottle expresses the Chloé values: simplicity and sophistication, authentic luxury and timeless elegance.

Chloé Eau de Fleurs Collection:

Chloé eau de fleurs Néroli 100 ml – $135.00
Chloé eau de fleurs Lavande 100 ml – $135.00
Chloé eau de fleurs Capucine 100 ml – $135.00

Chloé Eau de Fleurs fragrances were released February 2010 and are available exclusively at Saks Fifth Avenue and Chloé boutiques.

Spring 2010 Lavande
Spring 2010 Lavande by thehousewife featuring Chloé eau de fleurs Lavande

I got to try out Chloé eau de fleurs Lavande from the new collection and I am absolutely in love. It’s light, feminine and the essence of a warm Spring day. I don’t know how they managed to capture this heavenly scent into a bottle, but it’s absolutely amazing.

The only unfortunate things about this particular scent is:

1. The price.
2. It’s only available from Saks and Chloe boutiques.

Other than that, it’s a perfect dream. If you have a Saks near you, I highly suggest you drop in just to spritz yourself with this at least once. You’ll find it hard not to come home with a bottle of it, I guarantee it!

Hot Hair Accessories for Spring and Summer 2010

Head bands

A lot of the shows this year showed the headbands with accessories. These never get old, we just change how they are placed with the season looks. This season place the headband along the base of your Loose Bun to create a more polished feel with the softer hair.

Bows

Big bold and outrageous this season. Either buy yours or if you have a creative bone in your body get some fabric and make your own. Great look with a loose hairstyle or as an accessory to soft natural curls. This look was shown at the Mark Jacobs show this season.

Clips

Simple classic and beautiful, the clip. The Philip Lim show made this look a beautiful accent for the hair. Simple to do, easy to find. These are great for those bangs that you are trying to grow out from last season. A beautiful accessory for the clean hairstyle looks this season. Check out these Prismera Hair Accessories for more inspiration.
