My name is Jaime, and I’m the newest addition to the The Fashionable Housewife family. I’m a blogger by trade (I know how strange that sounds to you but I promise, we ARE out there!) and a fashion blogger by choice. Luckily for me, the two come together fairly often, and that’s how I landed here. I’m so excited to be a part of one of the best fashion sites available on the web!
Okay, maybe I’m a little biased, but you’re here, aren’t you? You know how great the site is!
I thought the best way to start out this new relationship was to give you a chance to see what fashion really means to me, and pick a couple of my favorite trends for 2010.
1. Flirty and Feminine: While we had a strong shift toward a masculine-made-feminine look in 2009, many designers are taking it back by showing you their “girly” sides. Lots of light pastels, lace and flowery dresses have hit the runway with mass appeal. Girly is in, ladies. Show off your sweet side.
2. Green nail polish: I know that sounds crazy, but the big color for Spring/Summer 2010 is Jade, and it was proven by how ridiculously fast the Chanel Jade polish flew off the shelves (you can still get it… if you’re willing to shell out $100 on eBay. I wish I was kidding). There are many close colors, including Essie’s Mint Candy Apple, that will appease your fashion cravings without the three-figure price.
3. Fitted and Figure-Flattering: The “body-con” (short for body conscious) look is in, but more importantly, showing off that great figure you’ve got is key here! Note: fitted does NOT have to mean tight. It means that it hugs your curves, but you don’t need to be spandex-clad to try out this trend. The example above of the fitted dress is perfect to show off your figure without offering too much. After all, something has to be left to the imagination!
4. Boyfriend Blazers: Slightly oversized and cuffed sleeves makes this one a comfortable trend that is easily worn by all shapes and sizes… and it gives you the chance to try out the boyfriend trend without the messier look of Boyfriend Jeans (I know they’re super comfy to wear, but they just look sloppy!)
Those are definitely four of the biggest easy-to-try trends for 2010. Have other ideas in mind? Let me know!
