COVERGIRL’s Seasonal Looks, Poolside Polish

COVERGIRL does nothing short of looking out for the everyday gal. Not only do they offer super affordable cosmetics but I have recently found makeup looks on their site. Lounge in style with this simple yet stunning look, featuring big, water resistant lashes and a soft lip shine. P&G Beauty Global Creative Design Director Pat McGrath’s created this makeup look inspired by the NatureLuxe Collection, which is one of COVERGIRL’s latest ventures. (Think of all those Taylor Swift ads you have been seeing).

Want to try this yourself? These tips are straight from COVERGIRL

  • Perfect skin with NatureLuxe Silk Foundation with SPF 10. Apply a small amount to the center of your face and blend outward toward the hairline.
  • Swipe Cheekers blush in Rose Silk along the cheekbone, from the apple of the cheek to eye height.
  • Apply the lighter, rounded tip, shade of SmokyShadowBlast in Bronze Fire to the eyelid, starting at the lashline and blending upward.
  • Apply two coats of NatureLuxe Mousse Mascara in Rich Black to the top lashes only.
  • Apply NatureLuxe Gloss Balm in Marble throughout the day. The SPF 15 and mango butter will keep lips protected and soft.

First Ever Unretouched Ad Camapaign from Make Up For Ever!

You’re looking at the gorgeous ad for Make Up For Ever spring 2011. The very first unretouched make-up ad! I think it looks amazing!!

Creator, and Artistic Director Dany Sanz came up for the concept of this shoot and everything was shot in Paris back in December 2010. The shoot was certified by a notary public as not being digitally retouched, so  that there would be no dispute. Look how real and stunning the model looks!

Make Up For Ever launched this campaign to show women that we can be flawless without resorting to digital retouching. It’s no secret that camera’s can pick-up on imperfections, especially when there’s tons of lights highlighting them, but the Make up For Ever HD Invisible Cover Foundation range can give you flawless results without any digital enhancement. It’s basically a retouching in a bottle! Celebrities get this done to achieve perfection and come across looking almost anamatronic. In recent years it has truly gotten out of hand. Well, from now on no more models shown in Make Up for Ever ads will be retouched!

Check out their minisite www.hd-not-retouched.com, it has all of the info about this campaign and a very fun behind the scenes video!! To download the video and spread the news about this awesome (and hopefully, soon to be popular) trend click here.

What’s your favorite “retouching” foundation? Will you be trying out the HD Invisible Cover Foundation?

Andrea

Have You Tried Black Shatter Nail Polish?

If you are looking for a quick and inexpensive pick me up, try the new Shatter nail polish by OPI.  Part of the Katy Perry Collection, it is in fact a teenage dream, and even fun for the mother of the teen!  A black polish that “shatters” when applied over a dry colored coat, the final effect is two-tone nails that look like a spider web close up and a leopard print at a distance.

OPI Black Shatter Nail Polish

You can try different color base coats to mix it up.  My daughter chose a bright gold base coat, and I went with the bubble gum pink.  (I like her look better!)

OPI Black Shatter is offered as a selection at most nail salons, or you can purchase a bottle to try at home at Amazon.com.

The Lip Slip Luxe Lip Balm

I stumbled across The Lip Slip one day with my daughter.  There were samples at the register and I tried it on without really thinking about it.  A few hours later (truly – a few hours!) I noticed that my lips were still moist and glossy and that The Lip Slip was still going strong – even after a cup of coffee, a snack and a lot of talking!  It’s pricey ($24 for .5 oz) but totally worth the investment.  If you love the feel of a gloss but don’t want a lot of color or sticky residue, The Lip Slip is for you.   You can purchase The Lip Slip at SaraHapp.com or at selected retailers.  Here’s the scoop on the slip from the web site:

Perfect Holiday Makeup Inspired by “Burlesque”

Pop Sugar TV is just as excited as we are about the upcoming debut of  “Burlesque” starring two of my personal favorite Divas, Cher and Christina Aguilera (Opening November 24th). To celebrate the extravagance that is the costuming, hair and make-up, they teamed up with one of the best. Wait for it… they were lucky enough to get some great advice and a tutorial  from Christina Aquilera’s makeup artist Kristofer Buckle to get the glittery eye make up that makes Christina sizzle in Burlesque.  He shares tips on which makeup products to use and how to apply them to get the same festive, show stopping look that she wore on the movie poster and in “I’m a Good Girl.”  Now we can’t all wear this show stopping makeup to our family Christmas party but not to worry, Kristofer tones it down for a more wearable look.
