There’s a real art to finding an activity that you and your child will enjoy. Both of you come into an experience with such very different views on it that it may even seem impossible. While everyone has their own tastes though, there are places you can go to maximize everyone’s enjoyment.
(Most) Pixar Movies
There are a lot of animated movies out there that try to incorporate adult humor into a child’s film and, while others may come close, no one does it better than Pixar. While there may be a few duds out there (hey no one’s perfect!), movies like Toy Story, Monsters Inc., and Finding Nemo will make both you and your child chuckle. What both of you may not enjoy is your child’s constant singing of the theme song for months afterward. That may be more fulfilling for your child.
The Basketball Court (Baseball Field, Hockey Rink, etc.)
Sports are an enjoyable way to get your blood going, and that rush of adrenaline is always going to be uplifting. Whether you’re good at a certain sport or not, the fun really comes from encouraging your child to try. You don’t have to pretend that your kid is great at something they’re not, but you can praise their effort. You may learn some new tricks as well. If you ever wondered, โWhat is a space cushion,โ you will discover the term doesnโt only refer to the road.
The Next Town Over
Road trips for kids don’t have to be epic, which is a good thing for you because you probably don’t want to spend too much time with them in the car. While the constant refrain of children asking whether they’re there yet may have been off put by all their electronic devices, that doesn’t mean that their patience knows no bounds. You can take them just one town over for new experiences, and to discover more about where they live.
The Pool
Most kids and adults love water, though adults may not love the mess of kids in the community pool. While it may get a little crowded for you though, there are still ways to have a fun time. The more people are there, the more likely it is that everyone will make a friend or two. Also, if youโre ready for it, you can challenge your kids to try the high dive, the deep end or a cannonball. There will always be time for you to work on your tan, enjoy the heat, and get a few laps in.
The Art Museum
Ok, so kids may not be dying to go to the museum as much as they’re dying to go to the playground. However, if you can get your kids talking about the art, then you may be surprised at how much they get into it. Between discussions about what the artist was going for and the many unusual types of pieces in the museum, this could end up being an interesting day. Don’t be afraid to let the conversation get a little silly for even more fun.
When you’re taking your kids out of the house, there’s a lot to think about between schedules, taking enough gear with you, and ensuring that you’re as prepared as possible for mishaps along the way. But one of the best things you can do to prepare is to take a defensive driving course. These courses keep everyone safer on the road โ not just your family, and they will provide advantageous effects on your insurance rates.
