iS Clinical White Lightening Skin Brightening System

I got the chance to use and review iS Clinical’s White Lightening System which is a 2-in-1 treatment with skin lightening agents. Used together, these products offer antioxidant protection, gentle controlled exfoliation, interruption of communication between melanocytes and keratinocytes, as well as inhibiting the production of excess melanin. In plain English, it dramatically reduces brown spots and dark scars.

The first product: iS Clinical White Lightening Complex.

This is an exfoliating, skin lightening antioxidant treatment. It contains extracts like Willow Bark, Sugar Cane , Vaccinium Myrtillus Fruit/Leaf , Imperata Cylindrica Root, Licorice , Alpha-Arbutin and others an it delivers with the correct pH. It also is quite moisturizing and also contains a powerful antioxidant protection.

The second product in this system: iS Clinical White Lightening Serum.

This is shown to lighten hyper pigmentation in 3 months. Its ingredients are similar to the Lightening Complex however it tends to be a little stronger. The sugar cane extract provides gentle and controlled exfoliation targeting the pigmented skin cells which allows for the active lightening ingredients to sink into the skin. It is a very lightweight serum (be careful because it is thin as water and you may waste it) with blend of Norwegian sea kelp extracts and powerful botanical acids lighten as well as deliver anti-aging benefits, smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles.

Adding these 2 products to my usual regimen was simple and I noticed a difference in the texture of my skin with one application, making it smooth and moist with no drying or flaking that I get with most exfoliators. After a few days, I noticed the overall appearance of my skin to be lighter and more even toned. I’m looking forward to continuing to use it for the 3 full months and having a light, clear complexion. And don’t forget the sunscreen when using this…the sun is the biggest source of discoloration and brown spots…

This thing works great! Just as good as my Clarisonic and at a much more affordable price. So yeah, now even YOU can afford to have great skin. And not just on your face either! This thing is super versatile and packed with power. I was impressed with how easy it was to change out the brush heads.

The only bummer is that it doesn’t have a charger. It comes with 4 AA batteries but they do need to be replaced. I recommend buying Duracell Charger With 4AA Pre Charged Rechargeable Nimh Batteries (Only $14 on Amazon) so you can recharge your own batteries and then pop them back into the Spa Sonic unit.

Beauty Adventure with Creme de la Mer

I have always been curious about the uber expensive Creme de la Mer. While I never knew anyone who actually used the product, I would frequently read celebrity testimonials claiming it was the ONE beauty product that gave them flawless skin and a genuinely better life than we mere mortals. I frequently sampled the product when passing the La Mer kiosk at department stores, but never had the stomach to shell out $135 for one ounce of this miracle potion.

Creme de la Mer, $130 at Bloomingdales

Originally formulated by an aerospace physicist to heal chemical burns, Creme de la Mer is loaded with sea kelp, vitamins, minerals, essential oils and other natural ingredients. Claiming to leave your skin soothed, moisturized and rejuvenated, with consistent use you should expect to see a reduction in fine lines, wrinkles, and redness. It smells wonderful, and my previous department store encounters left me feeling dewey – special somehow – that I too was partaking in this miracle skin serum.

So one afternoon when I was feeling an odd combination of flush with cash and rather wrinkly and under nourished, I splurged on a jar of La Mer and went home, excited to become part of the cult that had flawless skin and a dewey radiance. Imagine my disappointment when a week into my new La Mer regime my skin started breaking out. By the middle of the day my skin would begin to feel dry and in need of another La Mer application. I ended up getting a professional facial less than two weeks after starting to use La Mer (making this a MOST expensive beauty adventure!) and was told that the product was likely too heavy for my skin and that the creme was designed to trap moisture on the surface of the skin and didn’t really provide any long term and deep penetrating benefits to the skin.

I switched back to my regular moisturizer; my blemishes cleared up and my skin returned to a more hydrated state. I will continue to use La Mer on those days when I need a little extra something, but guess that I’ll leave the “I can’t live without it” status to the celebs and the lucky few who don’t mind breaking the bank on beauty products!

Bio-Oil, Anyone?

So I have recently had the opportunity to try Bio-Oil. First I have to say that I was skeptical as I have always been opposed to anything that is to be applied to the skin with the word “oil” in it… but I thought hey, what could it really hurt to try it.

I started by looking into what Bio-Oil recommends you use this product for:

Bio-Oil® is a specialist skincare product that helps improve the appearance of scars, stretch marks and uneven skin tone. Its advanced formulation, which contains the breakthrough ingredient PurCellin Oil™, also makes it highly effective for numerous other skin concerns, including aging skin and dehydrated skin.

I looked into what the every woman was using Bio-Oil for and what I should expect out of this particular product. I found the following 3 things to be the main uses and most popular on the internet:

Improving the appearance of stretch marks
Reducing the appearance of scars, mainly acne scars
Dry Skin relief

From what I read, the reviews were mostly positive but there were some mixed…which kept me skeptical for sure. I tried Bio-Oil anyhow.

I was actually pretty impressed with the results. I, like many other women in this world, have those beauteous little ladies called STRETCH MARKS… I wasn’t expecting any miracles; I actually wasn’t expecting there to be much of a result at all. You know what though? With some patience (I mean I have been using this for over 3 weeks now), I have started to see my stretch marks fading and the skin in those areas seems much softer and healthier. I think that I will keep using this to see what kind of results I can get with prolonged use re: stretch marks.

In regards to my use in general, I have tried this on my legs after shaving as well as on dry areas of my skin (aka my elbows!) and I have definitely seen the skin softer. I don’t know if Bio-Oil is better or worse than any other moisturizing creams or oils but I know for certain it did the trick.

Besides all the stuff that I just mentioned? My friend Jaime sent me this quick tip that was in Seventeen magazine (even though I am about 10 years older then 17 Ha-Ha)… and it totally worked! I was headed out in NYC this past weekend and my cheeks were really dewey and not just that, but the Bio-Oil, I swear helped keep my makeup in place longer. Any way you slice it, I liked the effect!

My final verdict? I think I will definitely keep Bio-Oil in my back pocket for scar concerns, stretch marks and will also keep in mind when I get pregnant. I read a lot of reviews about how great this worked during and after pregnancy, which to me seems like the perfect time to combat stretch marks. Overall, I would recommend Bio-Oil to you ladies with the disclaimer that if you break out pretty easily? I would keep it away from your face… it is oil afterall!
