Calypso Studios fabulous S.H.O.P. Totes are made of polyester and hold up to 20 pounds. I have 3 of them, which I took with me on vacation and I used them every where I went shopping. They fold up incredibly small so you can stuff them in your purse without taking up a lot of space.
I like using them for running errands and non-grocery shopping. Sometimes people look at me funny when I pull out a reusable bag in TJ Maxx, but most of the time, people in line behind me or the sales clerk will gush over the adorable designs on the bag. I hate bringing home a dozen plastic bags that I either have to store somewhere or throw away.
So what’s wrong with plastic bags? Well… just about everything except convenience. And sometimes, they are very convenient… like when the bust open and all your groceries land on the driveway.
Plastic bags take over 1,000 years to decompose. And meanwhile, even if they break down, you can still find microscopic particles that will never really go away. And every time you take home another plastic bag, it drives up the demand for oil because more oil is needed to make more plastic bags! Ugh!!
So do your part this year and switch to reusable bags. This is especially important if you have a large family or bring home a large amount of groceries. The less plastic bags we all use, the better.
