Yup, that’s me with my little squishy baby. I’ve been carting him around in this cool babywearing shirt since he was a day old. The NuRoo Pocket is a babywearing shirt with a built in pocket (hence the name) that lets you wear your baby, skin to skin. It’s fully supportive, comfortable to wear and best of all, keeps baby close to you – right where they belong.
NüRoo® developed this functional yet stylish shirt for mothers who are practicing skin-to-skin contact with their newborn. We love its simple design, which doesn’t rely on wrapping, tying or knotting. Put it on like a blouse, position Baby’s legs in the interior pocket, cross and hug the closures for a confident fit and secure the belt for additional support. The signature fabric blend is comforting, breathable and moisture-wicking.
It’s easy to put on and place baby in the pocket. Then you wrap it, velcro it and put on the supportive polkadot belt. Done. After the first time, I could put the shirt on and secure it easily with just one hand in less than a minute. My son absolutely loved it too. I wish I had this shirt with my first two kids! I found myself thinking “Damn, where has this product been all my life?!” several times while wearing it. It’s even easier and more comfortable than a wrap or soft structure baby carrier because it feels like you are just wearing a shirt and baby is snugly tucked inside.
The instructions are inside the shirt so you don’t have to worry about losing them. It appears to wear and wash well too. This shirt honestly made the first month with my new baby so much easier. I really wish I had something like this with my first two babies! My very colicky daughter would have been much easier to handle if I had this shirt back then!
Skin to skin contact with your newborn is so super important. This shirt makes it easy to do.
Over 40 years of research has proven that in the early months of life, Skin-to-Skin contact, also referred to as Kangaroo Care, creates remarkable benefits for you and your baby. Positioning baby on your bare chest, for an uninterrupted 60 minutes, triggers a hormonal response that can soothe crying/irritation/stress, regulate body temperature, improve quality of sleep, encourages breastfeeding and more! {continue reading >>>}
It’s easy to nurse in this shirt as well! I actually don’t wear a bra when I’m wearing the shirt. I use LilyPadz silicone nursing pads. They are the only nursing pads that stay stuck to you and apply pressure to nipples to stop breast milk leakage. I love them! (They are a must-have to go with this shirt!)
The only thing I could complain about is that this shirt is too hot to wear in the summer. I really wish that it was offered in a sleeveless style because the weather is too warm for me to wear a hot little baby AND have 3/4 length sleeves on. I considered cutting the sleeves off so I could keep wearing it this week (forecast is upper 70’s to lower 80’s here!) but I couldn’t bring myself to chop it up! That is my only predicament with the NuRoo pocket.
All things considered, I highly recommend the Nuroo Pocket! It will forever be in my “Top 5 Things You Need To Buy Before You Give Birth” list.
