I’ve been getting a little more personal in my posts lately because I’m at a point in my life where my attitude is “what you see is what you get.” I don’t have the energy or the desire to make sure all my pictures are perfect or photoshopped, make sure I only share the outfits I think everyone will like or make sure I always put my best foot forward whilst hiding the other foot completely. I’m just ME and if you like it, awesome! If you don’t, there are plenty of other blogs you can visit… So here’s to showing off both feet!
I touched briefly on My Journey to Becoming A Birth Doula, which is still a work in progress. I have so many things going on in my life still that it’s hard to focus on doing something for myself that might actually be rewarding.
One of my latest distractions is CHICKENS!
I have a handful of 3 month old chickens (12 of them to be exact), plus 4 new baby chicks and 4 Guinea Fowl “keets”. Yes, I have 20 birds and I’m now a crazy chicken lady! I had a dozen chickens when I was a kid so getting chickens for my kids to enjoy was an easy decision to make. Chickens have always been a part of my life so they are familiar and ‘make sense’ for our country living here in the backwoods of New Hampshire on 11 acres. And yes, my children absolutely adore their little fluffy pets.
One of our 3 month old chickens has turned out to be a Rooster. His name is Fred and I love him.
Night out on the town? Yeah right! On a Saturday evening, you are likely to find me sitting in the backyard, with my husband, my brother in law (Uncle Doug) and my two children, surrounded by our fluffy babies. That’s my idea of a relaxing evening. Sound ridiculous? Eh… to each his own. This is my cup of tea!
We also have a small organic vegetable garden this year that ‘Uncle Doug’ is helping out with (seen below with a bottle of FUZE Ice Tea – as usual!). It’s not a fancy garden, but it’s perfect for us! It should hopefully generate some fresh, organic produce soon including cucumbers, tomatoes, beans, cilantro and basil.
I want absolutely everything organized and clean to the point where I am a little OCD about it, I like watching The Bachelor / The Bachelorette on Mondays, I prefer straight tequila over wine, I have a Beagle and a Chihuahua even though I don’t even like either one of those breeds, I like Justin Timberlake, Michael Buble and Lyle Lovett, I have at least 20 bottles of shampoo and conditioner in my bathroom at any one time, Audrey Hepburn is my idol, I have an unhealthy addiction to Target and Zulily, Singing In The Rain is my favorite movie, Purple is my favorite color, my best friend and I have been friends for 20 years now, I haven’t gotten my driver’s license yet out of sheer laziness, my favorite desert is key lime pie and cheesecake, I hide chocolate all over my house for when PMS strikes, I have asthma that I’ve been hospitalized for 3 times, I used to play guitar, piano and conga drums, (I think) I’m a good photographer, I use to dance professionally (ballet) for 15 years, I love Mexican food and I’m Italian.
By day I’m a Housewife, WAHM to two kids / crazy chicken lady and by night I’m A Fashion Writer / obsessive organizer.
