Yesterday my husband and I celebrated our 7th Anniversary. :-)
We got his parent’s to babysit the kids and we actually got to go out to eat. Alone. Without the kids. (Yes, that’s the hallelujah chorus you hear!)
We went to a small, local attraction called Pickety Place – a quaint little red cottage that graces the hills of southern New Hampshire. The enchanting cottage was chosen by Elizabeth Orton Jones as the model for her illustrations in Little Red Riding Hood (Little Golden Books, 1948) and today is a mecca for gardeners, foodies and anyone looking for inspiration and relaxation..
We got a 5-course gourmet luncheon in an almost private little room that only housed two other tables besides ours. The meal was out of this world. We started off with a Guacamole Chipolte Dip served with yellow stoneground corn chips. We were then served a Creamy Tomato Dill soup with fresh Lovage followed by a Traditional Greek Salad w/lemon Oregano Vinaigrette that was outstanding. We then enjoyed a Rustic Roasted Garlic and Basil Sourdough served with Sundried Tomato butter. For our meal, I chose the Braised Burgundy Beef over Fines Herbes Shredded Potatoes and my husband had Mushroom and Sharp Cheddar Strata topped w/Balsamic Glazed Onion Ratatouille. Both main meals were unbelievable. Desert was a Peanut Butter Pie with an Oreo Crust. YUM.
The best part was getting to actually sit down and have a conversation, uninterrupted! I mean I actually got to finish more than 1 sentence! IN A ROW! If you don’t have kids, you probably have no idea what I’m talking about… Those of you that do are laughing and nodding your head in understanding right now.
For this special occasion, I chose to wear my Hollywood Dress from Stop Staring! I got back in 2008 – as seen on Paris Hilton. It’s so retro and it fits me perfect. I love this dress! I’m wearing it with Born sandals (my fav) and carrying my new IMAN Global Chic satchel in white that I received as part of a “styling challenge” for Iman Global Chic latest collection, which is sold on HSN (Home Shopping Network). Iman Global Chic is an affordable and totally fashionable collection of accessories and clothing that was created by the iconic supermodel, Iman.
