The advice from Marilyn Monroe was “give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world”. That may be overstating the power of shoes perhaps, but as this infographic shows, shoes can be more useful than making you look and feel good.
If you simply view a pair of shoes as a practical solution for covering your feet, you are probably missing out on an important style and fashion accessory secret, but you are also not seeing the potential that others have.
One example given here is how shoes can actually become a life saving device. When a small bot picked up a faulty hairdryer at a swimming pool, the combination of electricity and water could have been fatal, but the plastic shoes he was wearing, provided insulation from a shock that saved his life.
Some of the other uses for a shoe mentioned are not so positive. Hilary Clinton was used as a target for shoe-throwing woman who decided it was far better to use the item as a projectile weapon than to wear it on her foot. It is not the first time that a shoe has been used against a political figure, with President George W. Bush having to duck after an Iraqi journalist decided to make the headlines himself.
At least the shoe did not thankfully become a murder weapon, which it did when a woman stabbed her boyfriend repeatedly with the heel of her stiletto shoe.
So you can see that shoes can sometimes be more than a fashion accessory, but to many women they are a lot more than that anyway. As Taylor Momsen said, “You can wear anything as long as you put a nice pair of shoes with it”. Now that’s good fashion advice!
