Please welcome Anna Davies, our newest addition to The Fashionable Housewife. See below a little bit about Anna and her quest for the perfect pair of shoes…
Hi, my name is Anna, and I am searching for the One.
And by “the one” I mean, the pair. Of shoes. The pair of shoes that will allow, me, an event coordinator at one of the country’s largest multi venue complexes, to stay active on my feet all day without breaking down into tears at the night’s end. I am on a quest to find shoes that will allow me to walk miles (literally) during the day and still allow me to go dancing (not so literally) at night. Oh, and did I mention that I need them to be cute?
You see, I have been an event coordinator for over five years, and in that time I’ve developed the mentality that comfort always overrides cuteness when it comes to dressing for my job. At least that’s how it was until I switched jobs in April. You see, in the past, my regular attire for events was jeans, a nice t-shirt or button down, and tennis shoes. If it was a fancy event, I wore a business casual outfit with flats.
But now that I am working at a more prestigious event complex, my whole attitude has change. For one, I’m not allowed to wear jeans. Ever. And tennis shoes? Forget it. I’m pretty sure I’d get fired if I wore them in front of a client. Now, I always wear business casual, unless I have an event in our stadium, then I wear a suit. And since I have been dressing more professionally, my interest in style and fashion has grown. I now want to look cute as well as professional, and I’ve found some great clothes that are both stylish and comfortable. I’m in heaven!
Well, at least my body is. My feet, however, HATE my new job. They have to walk around huge trade shows, up tons of stairs, and support me for hours on end while I am working stadium events. My feet are very unhappy with my career choice. They want me to go back to my other, smaller event coordinator job that only made me walk around small meeting rooms and have only one building to monitor rather than four.
But I like my new job. So, as a compromise to my feet, I have agreed to search far and wide to fill my closet with shoes that are will fulfill my needs for fashion and style, as well as comfort and coddle my feet while they slave away in a profession I love.
Join me, as I share my search with you. I have racked up quite a few stories about the joys and pains (and sometimes agonies) of finding that perfect pair. While I have come close, I don’t think I’ve got them yet. But I’m having a ball looking.

for a busy woman like you, and the nature of your job is that you’re standing all day long…. you must wear flat shoes… but most of the flat shoes found on the round the corner shops are not as elegant as the high heeled one. but there are a lot of elegant flat shoes available now… http://wwhow.com/what/shoes/where/9411
If you’re a trousers woman, might I recommend the Kinky from Kumfs shoes? I also have terrible trouble standing and walking in heels for long periods of time, but these shoes are a dream to wear. I can walk, stand, and dance (if I ever went dancing). In fact, they are so perfect I went and bought a second pair in a different colour. I would even go so far as to consider buying a backup pair to put away for a few years and bring out when the originals cark it.

Those choices are ugly. Living in DC you HAVE to have comfortable shoes that are fashionable. Try JUMP shoes, they are comfy and cute. You can find good selections online (zappos, planetshoes.com… etc) their website doesnt really have that many selections.
