Saturday afternoon my daughter raced home from her all day lacrosse tournament to get ready for prom, to which she was wearing a slightly scandalous Herve lerger-style strapless bandage dress. Off came the team jersey to reveal – HORRORS – sunburned shoulders, a red “V” down her chest, and snow white ankles where her sock line hit. After a few minutes of panic we figured it out:
Step 1) A cool shower to reduce redness and puffiness
Step 2) Slather on lotion (we used Johnson’s baby lotion with Aloe)
Step 3) Dust with baby powder (again, we used Johnson’s) to mask some of the redness
Step 4) Once the lotion/powder is dry, blend in a tinted moisturizer (we used Clinique Almost Makeup in #10 Neutral) along the tan/burn lines, blending well between the burned and non-burned skin
Step 5) Dance around the house while the tinted moisturizer settles, the dust lightly with bronzer (we used Cover Girl Trublend Bronzer in #440 Natural Bronze)
The end result was glowing skin without harsh tan lines, and a very happy girl. Besides, her dress was so fantastic that nobody would have noticed her white ankles and red shoulders anyway, but she felt more confident and that is all that matters!
I’m glad you were able to fix it! Prom is so important at that age!
Awesome tips Sara! I’m going to try it out on myself for an event next weekend. Thanks!
