Origins Organics has taken their natural premise one giant leap further changing the beauty landscape by providing consumers with a new choice in personal care products through a collection of skin, body and hair care products certified to meet the USDA organic standards.
I recently had the opportunity to try out their new Nourishing Face Lotion. It was wonderfully moisturizing and felt wonderful on my skin. However, the smell was quite odd.
I considered listing this post under the “Don’t Purchase This!” category, but opted not to figuring that there would be someone out there that might want their face to smell like a rosemary and sage panini sandwich…
After applying the lotion to my face, my husband walked into the room and crinkled his face. “Buuughaaaa! What is that?!” he said stepping away from me. “Face lotion,” I stated with a face. “Smells more like a salad than lotion!” he said.
So the verdict is in. This stuff smells yucky!
The Origins Organics website says:
Helps restore moisture and softness to skin, protects against moisture loss and free radical damage. Absorbs quickly. For all skin types.
When it comes to softening and soothing, rough, dry faces, is there anything quite like Organic Shea Butter (extracted from naturally harvested Karite Nuts) blended with Organic Cocoa Butter (from high quality beans)! Processed without chemicals, these two weightless butters have a super smooth texture, plus vital nutrients and antioxidant benefits. There’s also Organic Glycerin from vegetable oil and Linoleic acid-rich Organic Sunflower Oil to hydrate and soothe and Organic Coconut Oil to help skin dodge signs of dehydration. Patent Pending Formula.
Origins own blend of Organic Clove, Rose, Lavender, Patchouli and Red Thyme Essential Oils helps protect the purity of this product.

After reading the ingredients in the face lotion, it was no wonder why it smelled so strongly. There is practically an entire herb garden’s worth of greenery in that bottle! It might be wonderful for your skin, seeing as how it’s organic, but I just don’t think I can tolerate it being that close to my nose. Maybe they have a foot lotion?
I wouldn’t recommend this face lotion, mainly because of the strong odor. The price tag of $42.50 doesn’t work in it’s favor either. However, in it’s defense, it does feel soft on your face and moisturizes wonderfully all day. But I can get that using Biore Skin Balancing Moisturizer. That’s not organic, but it doesn’t smell like a salad either.
Is it just me?
I mean, would you use an organic face lotion that you knew was better for your skin than traditional chemical-filled lotions, even if it smelled really strong in a yucky sorta way?
