We all love shoes, right? But does anyone out there actually have a Cinderella foot– one with no fit challenges whatsoever?
Well, if you do, more power to you and feel free to scan down to the next post. The rest of us often require some adjustment or accessory to make our favorite shoes fit perfectly.
So I was excited to review Foot Petals cushions, a line of products designed to resolve specific fit problems, making it possible for you to wear even the most punishing stilettos.
For me, the main issue is pain under the ball of my foot. I love wearing heels, but most of my shoes put too much pressure on this crucial area. And then there’s the dreaded creeping that occurs as I wear my heels; my foot keeps sliding forward until my toes are practically hanging over the edge. Yes, attractive, I know.
Naturally, then, I immediately tried the Foot Petals Tip Toes, a top-selling product designed to add support under the ball of the foot. I placed them in my most challenging pair of shoes: some uber-cute gold gladiator wedges I bought a few years ago before a trip to Italy. I love these shoes, but they’re weird. Somehow when I first wore them, they felt fine. I tromped all over Rome with no problem. Well, apparently that was specific to whatever was going on there because ever since they have been a major pain. Last spring I was in NYC, and I tried to recreate my blissful Roman experience… with no success. In fact, after a couple of hours of exploring downtown, I would have slapped a baby bunny for a taxi back to my hotel.
So could Tip Toes rescue my gladiator wedges from Feet-of-Fire Infamy?
I’m happy to say Yes. I wore them for the better part of two days (that included a lot of walking) fairly comfortably. I would say that simply adding the Tip Toes doubled my wear time with these shoes. A couple of key points:
- They’re just a peel-and-stick product. The adhesive is the only thing holding them in place, and it worked very well. I had no problem with them sliding around.
- They really helped keep my foot from creeping forward. This was probably my favorite thing about them, both because it improved the overall look of my shoes and because it prevented the pain and blistering I’ve had with them before.
- Keep in mind that they take up a little extra room in your shoe. It’s not enough to make a real size difference, but if you try them on a pair that’s slightly tight already, you’ll run the risk of making them less comfortable.
So if, like me, you consistently need extra support below the ball of your foot, Foot Petals Tip Toes are definitely worth a try. More info below:
Tip Toes prevent calluses from forming, protect bones and tissue, and stop feet from sliding forward. $6.95/ pair or $18.95/ 3 pairs. Available in a variety of colors at Nordstrom or www.footpetals.com.
Of course, shoe issues are totally specific, so I had a friend test a different Foot Petals product on her particular problem.
She loves wearing cute flats but sometimes suffers from pain and cramping due to weak arches. I was hoping the Amazing Arches cushions would resolve that problem for her. Unfortunately, she found that they were simply too small to give her noticeable support. She wears a size 10 and thought they might work out for someone with a smaller foot, but for her they just didn’t make a difference.
My foot is slightly smaller than average, so I don’t know if that influenced my positive experience with the Tip Toes. I suspect, though, that Amazing Arches might be more dependent on size issues than some of the other Foot Petals products.
And speaking of, I’m looking forward to road testing more of their products– specifically Killer Kushions and Heavenly Heelz
and hope they’ll make my boots even more awesome this fall. Will keep you posted!
