Another day, another runway. Episode 4 starts with our designers thoughts on the previous week. Same ol’, same ol’.ย This episode the designers are creating looks for a “very important client”… Nina Garcia. I am scared for them. She is a tough cookie. Winner of this challenge will have bragging rights AND their look in a Marie Claire ad on top of NYC cabs. Cool beans.
Nina has a consultation with all of the designers to check out their sketches. One thing is for certain, she makes all of the designers nervous. She is direct, knows what she wants and lets the designers know it. In my opinion, the task of designing for someone who is so knowledgeable has got to be nerve racking.
A lot of the designers had a hard time finishing this challenge on time. Tim Gunn himself was actually horrified at how many designers were still in the sewing room when it came time to put their models down to hair and makeup but somehow everyone makes it onto the runway.
Our top three designers are Kimberly Goldson, Viktor Luna and Anya Ayoung Chee. Ultimately, the designers thought that Kimberly’s look translated from day to night and was exactly “Nina” ready. I would have to agree as it was my favorite.
Our bottom three designers were Cecilia Motwani, Danielle Everine and Julie Tierney (once again). The judges seemed to zone in on mostly Cecelia and Julie’s garments that lacked finish and the style that Nina was looking for. Sadly for Julie, her design was out and she was sent home. I would have rather seen Cecilia go, but then I am not a judge.
Next week’s ep looks exciting, where our designers have to race around a track to see who is a team captain… and that is the least of the drama!
