I was sent two of Avon’s new Shine Attract Lipstick and was eager to review them for you, our loyal readers. Keep reading after the break for my complete review.
First Impressions
I received two shades: Nude Love and Rose Bouquet. Nude Love is, obviously, a nude color. I tend to shy away from these because I am afraid they will make my already pale complexion look washed out, but this particular shade isn’t nude in the traditional sense of the word. Rather, it’s a nice light brown shade that’s sheer but can be built up for more vibrant color.
Rose Bouquet looks a lot more intimidating in the tube than it does on lips, and is the perfect shade of red for my skin tone. This shade can also be built up for more color.
I want to say that I was really intrigued with this lipcolor from the get-go. This lipstick is truly unique in that a layer of color is wrapped in a clear gloss, which is designed to hydrate lips and add shine and color in one fell swoop. A lot of lipsticks are very drying and make my lips feel uncomfortable, but the moment I put one of these on I was amazed at how hydrating they felt. Not only did the lipstick glide on effortlessly, but the clear gloss wrapped around the actual lipstick was perfect for adding the right amount of shine and moisture – and they’re not sticky at all.
As far as wear time, these didn’t last as long on me as a regular lipstick would. I ended up with about an hour and a half of wear before I needed to reapply, but honestly, that doesn’t bother me. Since these are more of a highly pigmented lip gloss than an actual lipstick, the wear is pretty extraordinary if you ask me – a regular, run of the mill gloss would need to be applied constantly to keep up the color.
Overall
I am really pleased with these Shine Attract Lipsticks, and think I’ll be picking up more shades to add to my collection. I love that the gel layer includes SPF 15, as well, and moisturizes my lips while adding a fun splash of color. I also really like the fact that I feel comfortable applying these without a mirror; I can just slick them on and go when I’m out and about and need a touch up. Bottom line: I would definitely recommend these to anyone who desires the pigmentation of a lipstick with the hydrating power and shine of a gloss.
