Granite State ski areas double as summer playgrounds in the warmer months!
Now that the snow is finally melted away from NH ski area slopes, these beautiful ski resorts are switching gears with tons of funย summer activitiesย opening this Memorial Day Weekend. While many resorts continue to offer exciting attractions likeย zip lining, mountain coasters, and mountain biking, they also have fun things planned for kids as young as 5 and as old as 17 and special summer camps too.
New Hampshire Summer Camps
Bretton Woodsย in Carroll, N.H.
Your teens will love the one-day Teen Adventure Camps for ages 13 to 17, where they can enjoy zipline Canopy Tours, rock climbing, hiking, mountain biking, archery, orienteering, and even a little fly fishing. This fun summer day camp takes place on Fridays and Saturdays fromย June 29 through August 25, 2018. The cost isย $179 per child. This is a great option for families that are planning to vacation at the Omni Mount Washington Resort. You can rest easy knowing your teens are entertained while you are off enjoying a round of golf and relaxing at the spa.
Granite Gorgeย in Keene, N.H.
Parents everywhere are rejoicing that Granite Gorge is once again hosting eight weeks of fun for kids ages 5 andย up. Heldย on Mondayย throughย Fridayย fromย 8 A.M. to 4 P.M.ย with after-care options available if needed. Activities on the agenda include hiking, soccer, swimming andย fun picnics at Otter Brook Lake Beach, arts and crafts, fishing, and more! There will be 2 sessions available this summer. Session 1 runs fromย June 18 through July 13, and Session 2 is fromย July 16 through August 10. One week of summer camp is $125, 4 weeks is $400, and the full summer (8 weeks) is just $700.
Great Glen Trailsย in Gorham, N.H.
Appalachian Mountain Club teams up with Great Glen Trails each summer to offer Teen Wilderness Adventure Trips in the beautiful White Mountains. This yearโs trips on the roster include a 5-Day WhiteWater Kayaking Adventure, a 7-Day Rocks and Rivers Adventure, two 7-Day Backpacking and Whitewater Kayaking Adventures, a 10-day Multisport Adventure with backpacking, kayaking, and rock climbing, and a Northern Forest Kayak Trip. Each adventure trip has age requirements and are scheduled for a specific week startingย June 27th and ending August 18th. Prices for each adventure trip start at $700.
Another fun opportunity this summer is for competitive high school Nordic skiers that can train weekly at Great Glen Trails with Olympian Sue Wemyss for their highly acclaimedย Skiers Are Made In The Summer (SAMITS)ย pre-season program.
Camp Tohkomeupogย in East Madison, N.H.
Camp Tohkoย is a traditional overnight camp just for boys and is located atย King Pine and Purity Spring Resort. Boys will have access to beautiful Purity Lake and can enjoy fun other activities like tennis, archery, softball, sailing, and watersports. Boys who will be entering the 3rd grade in the Fall up to boys who have just completed 9th grade are welcome as campers. They are also offering a counselor-in-training program for those who have completed 10th and 11th grade.
Camp Tohko sessions run fromย June 24 through August 11, and parents can send their kids there for up to seven weeks. Rates start at just $2,795. Tohko Family Camp is also available fromย August 12 through 19 for those interested.
Mount Sunapee Resort in Newbury, N.H.
Get ready for a summer of fun withย Kids Mountain Adventure Campย andย Mountain Bike Campย at Mount Sunapee Resort. The Adventure Camp is a day camp for ages 5-12 that beginsย June 25 and goes through August 24. You can reserve spots in one-day, 5-day, or 10-day segments that allow you to choose the days that fit into your busy summer schedule. Kids participate in activities like the Aerial Challenge Course, the rock climbing wall, hiking, fort building, mini golf, arts and crafts, and orienteering fromย 8:30 am till 4 pm.
Prices start at just $50 for the one-day option and costs up to $440 for the ten-day option. Mount Sunapee Resort winter passholdersย can get a special discount.
The Mountain Bike Camp will be held fromย 9:00 am till 4:00 pmย fromย July 9 – 13ย andย August 20 – 24ย for ages 9-14. This camp is geared towards helping kids master the trails at Mount Sunapee Resort. The cost for one week is $400 if the child has their own bike. (Price is $600 with a bike rental.)
