My youngest child recently turned 13 months old. He’s been casually picking at finger foods and eating purees for a couple of months now so we’ve had a chance to try out some new mealtime items like plates, bowls, spoons, and bibs. We recently got to try out a couple feeding items from bblüv that I am so impressed with, I just have to tell you all about them!
Since he’s had the pincer grasp down really well since about 7 months old, he’s been loving things like small bits of banana, strawberries, peas, and carrots. He’s fairly opinionated about food though. Some babies just love the act of consuming, whereas my youngest sees it as more of a scientific activity. How can I grab it? Should I taste it? Should I squish it? Should I put it in my mouth? Does it smell good?
With foods that taste better warmed up like peas and carrots, they generally end up cold by the time he’s done experimenting with them and checking it out. This turns mealtime into a much bigger fiasco then it needs to be, which with 4 kids, is already quite the production. Thankfully, the Platö Warm Feeding Plate makes things a lot easier!
Nobody wants to keep heating up baby’s food. Either you’re a “good mom” and heat it up on the stove, or you pop it in the microwave for 5 seconds and hope you haven’t zapped the nutrition right out of your baby’s food. Thankfully, there is a better option. The bbluv warm feeding plate is sectioned bowl with a chamber underneath that you fill up with hot water in order to keep the food in the plate warm! Seriously, this thing is genius.
It keeps things like peas, carrots, green beans, and potatoes nice and warm so baby has time to play with his food and still be able to eat warm food. I’ve found if I fill it with hot sink water, it keeps his food warm for about half an hour, which is plenty of time. The safety cap works well as my son has chucked the bowl in the floor a few times and we haven’t had an issue with water spillage, leaking or it breaking. It’s surprisingly resilient.
The suctioned base keeps the bowl fairly stable and attached to the high chair unless you have a real wise-guy that likes to toss plates and just sees suction based bowls as a fun dinner-time challenge. We’ve had pretty good luck with the bbluv Plato warm feeding plate staying stuck to our Joovy Nook highchair, but not to our counter. Be sure to test the surface first to see how well it stays put if you don’t feel like washing your floors.
The bblüv Platö Warm Feeding Plate for Baby costs just $11.99 and comes in lime green (pictured above), aqua blue and pink. Similar food warming plates cost nearly twice as much with the same features, so I highly recommend this one!
For finger foods that don’t need to stay warm like bananas, strawberries, blueberries, mango, watermelon, etc, I absolutely love the bblüv Miäm Silicone Plate & Spoon Set. It has 3 compartments, is easy to clean, durable, stain-resistant and is made from food-safe anti-bacterial silicone that is free from BPA, Phthalates and PVC. Best of all, it is dishwasher, freezer, and even microwave safe.
I use this plate more often than the warm feeding plate because it’s easier to clean and stays suctioned down really well on most surfaces. My honorary “nephew” Kanaan, who just started eating finger foods, really likes the bbluv Miam silicone plate too! Isn’t he just the cutest little monster?!
The spoon that comes with the bbluv Miam plate is really interesting. I didn’t think I would like it because it’s so flexible, but what I’ve found is that makes it perfect for my baby to use himself. I don’t like it for feeding him things, but HE likes using it to feed himself. He can actually get food into his mouth with it and it’s soft and pliable design makes it safe for him to handle. I wish you could buy the spoon separately because I would love to have one more of these spoons in my diaper bag for when we eat out.
The bbluv Miam plate and spoon set costs $15.99 and comes in lime green (shown above) or aqua. I only wish this one also came in pink for girls like the Plato warm feeding dish does!
The other really nifty item that bbluv makes is the Döse Multi-purpose Stackable Containers. There are 3 compartments, each with a 4 oz capacity. They are stackable, interchangeable and combinable. I use them for snacks like cranberries, Happy Baby puffs, crackers, diced fruit, nuts and more. I’ve seen other moms use them for dispensing formula too. They are perfect for going out and taking snacks with you. I’m able to take along snacks for both my 4-year-old and my 13-month-old. They are leak-proof, compact, and convenient to use.
They are easy to clean and can be sterilized if necessary, plus they are microwave and dishwasher safe! These stackable containers are great and can serve a multitude of different purposes. Try them out and you’ll see! Once your kids are older, they can be used for sorting things in your purse like bobby pins, hair ties, and safety pins!
The Dose stackable containers cost $9.99 and are only available in lime green/gray combo. I’d love to see these come in aqua and pink combos in the future!
