I have to admit that when the weather warms up, I spend a lot of time in flip flops. They are easy to slip on and off, comfortable and a “must have” for the pool. Unfortunately, they are an item that is a little “too easy” to wear. Meaning, they can be end up being a mom’s “go to” item like sweatpants and tee shirts can be. Here are a few summer shoes that I found to be both stylish and comfortable for the mom on the go.
Bandolino Ubetcha Espadrille Sandal ($70 at Piperlime) is a great choice for any stylish woman on the go. The heel is low enough to be comfortable but also provide a little height to make your legs look fabulous in summer shorts and skirts.
This slip-on sneaker from Naturalizer ($60 at Piperlime) is a great choice for times when you are looking for more support and cushioning than a flip flop can provide. I have a similar pair and wore them for an entire week at Disney World with my family last year and my feet felt great all week.
The Get Outta Town peep-toe flat from Seychelles ($80 at Piperlime) is a fashionable alternative to the sandal in the summer months. I also really love the versatile pewter color which will allow you to pair with many different colors in your summer wardrobe.
One item you may have noticed that I left off this list is the Croc. Unless you are under the age of 6 or out in your garden, please do not wear crocs out in public. They may be comfortable, but they are not, I repeat, NOT fashionable!
I hope some of the suggestions above will offer some inspiration for your summer footwear. There are a number of cute alternatives to the basic flip flop and croc that will make you the talk of your play group.
