I’m pretty addicted to baby carriers. Despite my love for wraps, I always seem to reach for my soft structured carriers first.
I love the convenience of being able to adjust it just right so that when it’s time to put it on, you just throw it on, snap two buckles and you’re good to go. I’ve got one in my car, one in my suv, one in my mother’s car, one in the diaper bag and at least 4-6 hanging on a coat rack in my house too. Yup, I’m pretty obsessed. I think my baby carrier collection might be getting bigger than my shoe collection… Ok not quite, but I’m working on it!
My newest love is my Lenny Lamb Wrap Conversion Ergonomic Toddler Carrier in “NORWEGIAN DIAMOND”. It’s the perfect size for my almost 4 year old son! He LOVES being carriers (always has!) and this soft, comfy carrier is his favorite. He’s always asking us to carry him and daddy obliged this weekend!
It’s hard not to compare this carrier to other baby carriers I’ve reviewed but at the same time this carrier is in a league all it’s own.
What sets this carrier apart from the crowd for me is the high quality, buttery-soft 100% cotton diamond weave woven fabric that is made of the finest yarn. All yarn and dyes used for LennyLamb fabrics have the Oko-tekst standard 100 certificate and carriers are made in Poland. This is a “wrap conversion” which means they take one of their amazing woven wraps and turn it into a soft structured ergonomic carrier.
The soft material on this carrier feels great against my bare skin and my baby’s delicate skin, unlike rough canvas carriers. For me this makes a huge difference while wearing it, especially in the summer.
The toddler carrier accommodates children from approx 13 – 44 pounds. Lenny Lamb ergonomic carriers come in both standard baby size and toddler size. (Carrier pictured above is toddler size and my son weighs 32 pounds and is 4 years old for reference.)
Here is the size chart from the Lenny Lamb website:
The Toddler carrier is approximately 17.7″ wide whereas a baby sized carrier is usually around 13 or 14 inches wide. (Tula toddler carriers are 18.9″ for reference.) The wider width accommodates toddlers easier and more comfortably than a standard carrier, allowing you to continue the close bond you have with your child!
I absolutely love the colors in the “NORWEGIAN DIAMOND”. Purple is my favorite color and the jewel tones in this carrier are rich, saturated and yet subtle enough to not scream at people. As you can see, my husband doesn’t mind wearing this carrier even though it’s purple. I think it looks great on him. A lot better than this floral pattern.
I have found that the wide panel to be really comfortable and supportive. I have found similar carriers to get uncomfortable around the waist after a while. We don’t have that problem with this carrier. At no point do I feel like “Oh get this thing off me!” which you might expect when carrying a heavy kid, but this carrier is designed in such a way to make it comfortable for you to wear a toddler in. I also like that the straps are adjustable on both ends and can be worn two different ways. [Click here to read the manual.]
If you are looking for the perfect toddler carrier, this is it.
