Just For Moms: Tips & Tricks To Help You Shed Pounds

Let’s face it: losing weight can be downright impossible if you’re not serious about dieting and exercise. Most people who struggle to lose weight have one of several problems. Either, they underestimate the calories they eat, they overestimate the calories they burn, or they do a combination of both. Here’s how to fix that problem, and find some foods that will help you along the way.

 

Eat A Lot Of Protein

Eating a lot of protein will help you in your weight loss efforts. According to nutritional expert Lyle McDonald, protein is one of the most important macronutrients involved in fat loss because it helps spare muscle while you’re in a calorie deficit. And, being in a calorie deficit is the only way to lose weight.

You must either reduce calories, increase energy expenditure, or do both. It’s easier to do a combination of both and, when you do, protein is very satiating. It helps to stave off that feeling that you’re starving – and that feeling, starvation, is why many people end up cheating on their diet.

Of course, the best source of proteins are meats, so eat a variety of them. Aim for about .81 grams per lb of body weight at the most. Try not to consume less than .60 grams per lb of body weight in protein.

Watch The Calories

For fat loss, McDonald recommends eating between 8 and 12 calories per lb of body weight. So, if you’re 150 lbs, you will want to eat between 1200 and 1800 calories to lose weight. Fortunately, the type of calories you eat aren’t nearly as important as the amount of calories.

Choose healthy food options when you can though, since they carry additional health benefits outside of weight loss. So, that means sticking with lots of low-sugar and starch vegetables and fruit.

Butter, which is rich is butyric acid, is amazingly healthy for your colon, so try to work that into your diet too.

If you’re having trouble cutting back on calories, try drinking more water. Most people don’t drink enough water, and this will help “prefill” your stomach before you eat.

 

Try Garcinia Cambogia

If you’re looking for diet aids and supplements, some experts love Garcinia Cambogia. Authority Nutrition, for example, recommends garcinia cambogia xt to help with food cravings. If you’re particularly sensitive to dieting, this may help you depress your appetite enough to get through the day without binging.

The Garcinia cambogia fruit is harvested for its skin, which contains a high amount of Hydroxycitric acid (HCA). This is what helps curb your appetite and makes it easier to stick to a reduced calorie diet.

 

Eat Whey Protein

Whey protein may also help you lose weight, since it’s rich in Leucine, an amino acid that plays a key role in protein synthesis. It also stimulates fatty acid oxidation (fat loss). Whey protein is also very satiating and can suppress appetite. Finally, being a protein, it adds to your protein allotment for the day, helping to keep you feeling fuller, longer.

Some studies show that whey helps people drop body fat at a 40 gram per day serving, along with supervised resistance and endurance training from programs like Buffedd.

 

Get More Fiber

If you want to feel full after even the lightest of meals, try adding more fiber to your diet. Fiber expands in your stomach and moves more slowly through your digestive tract.

This, in turn, reduces your need to eat throughout the day. Many people find that they can eat just two or three meals per day, with no snacking, and lose weight just by adding more fiber to their diet.

When you increase you fiber intake, you will also need to increase your water intake right along with it. That’s because fiber can have a dehydrating effect on your body, deplete it of essential electrolytes, and slow or prevent the uptake of certain fatty acids.

There are several types of fiber, including insoluble and soluble fibers. Resistance starch, while technically not a fiber, acts similar to a fiber and can be used to help “bulk up” meals.

Opt for more soluble fiber than insoluble fiber, especially fiber from beans and other legumes like lentils. You can also get plenty of soluble fiber from vegetables like greens, and fruits like apples.

Don’t overdo it on fiber though. Remember that you do want to consume your daily intake of calories. Too little calories, and you may send your body into “panic mode” where it slows down your metabolism dramatically.

At the end of the day, you want a balance – a good diet, some exercise outside, and some gym time.
