Celebrating your best friend’s upcoming nuptials starts from the moment of the engagement and ends on the wedding day. If you have been selected to be her maid-of-honor, you know that the role comes with many responsibilities including planning a glamorous bridal shower.
This is the perfect opportunity to celebrate her. It is a special event that is also meant for your best friend to have some fun in the middle of all the hectic wedding planning. However, planning a bridal shower can be overwhelming and figuring out where to begin can be difficult. Here are some things to keep in mind when throwing your best friend a glamorous bridal shower…

Planning A Bridal Shower
- Who? First and foremost, you need to come up with a guest list. Remember, to keep this a tight and short list. Bridal showers are often smaller and more intimate event. You should definitely invite all the other bridesmaids but also close friends and families. Create an initial list with the bride to make sure you invite everyone she would want there. Do not invite people that are not invited to the wedding as well. Traditionally, bridal showers are usually an all-female affair, so invitations should be sent to all the women in her immediate family and her fiancé’s immediate family. When in doubt check with the bride, or if the shower is a surprise check with her mother or fiancé.
- What? – Most bridal showers will involve fun games. Some classic games are creating a wedding dress out of toilet paper or a personalized version of the newlywed game. You can create questions about the bride and groom such as “How did they meet?” or “Who designed the engagement ring?”. This is a great way to get some laughs with everyone. There are many other kinds of bridal shower games such as bridal bingo, all of which can be customized to the bride.
- Where? Bridal showers can take place anywhere, but traditionally it is in the home of whoever is hosting the event. These days’ bridal showers can take place at a nice restaurant or country club. This of course depends on the size of the guest list. You can even have it a place where you can have activities such as at a spa or salon.
- When? A bridal shower often takes place about a month or two before the wedding festivities. This could give enough time for people who are coming from out of town to plan their visit. This time frame also prevents adding extra stress on the bride days before her wedding day. Most bridal showers might take place in the late afternoon or evening. However, brunch bridal parties are becoming popular as well. Depending on the time of day you choose will also depend on what kind of food and drinks you serve.

Planning a bridal shower can be stressful but also is a great way to show your best friend just how much you care. Creating a glamorous bridal shower for your best friend also gives her some time to step back from all the wedding planning and thinking about wedding dresses so she can actually have some fun with her friends and family.
