I absolutely love shopping online – from everything to my children’s Halloween costumes to all of my holiday shopping. When I shop online I like to feel like I got a deal – a GOOD deal. Here are some of my tips on how to ensure that you are getting the best deal possible when shopping online.
1) Shipping – Free Shipping is the best kind of shipping. For the times that you have to pay for your shipping – try and keep it to the bare minimum. Overstock has $2.95 shipping and Amazon often provides free shipping. There is no point to shopping online if you are paying $9.95 for shipping.
2) Coupon Codes – Always look for a coupon code online. There are hundreds of websites that provide coupon codes. I usually do a google search and put in the name of the store and coupon code in the search box. For example – I put Kohls and coupon code (this is great when they are having their scratchoff sales and I only received a coupon for 15% off in the mail). You’ll probably find several Kohl’s coupons. Be sure to check that the expiration date is still valid and also make sure that you are getting the “best value” for your purchase. If a code will get you $10 off of a $50 purchase but you are only spending $30 then you need to use a different code.
3) Join a Rewards Program – By joining an online rewards program they will put a percentage of your purchase into an account. The percentage that is given depends on what store you are ordering from and what rewards program you are using. A couple of the more popular websites with reward programs is Ebates and Fat Wallet. You may think that earning 4% on a $30 ($1.20) purchase isn’t worth your time and effort but make a few of these purchases over time and it will add up rather quickly. Especially during the holidays.
