Vaping is an excellent alternative to smoking. However, your vape pen can damage your clothes too! That is because it often happens to drop e-liquid on your clothing. If this has happened to you, don’t despair just yet. There is a way to get most stains out of clothing, including those pesky e-liquid stains.
Act fast
There are plenty of ways to get rid of the dreaded e-liquid stains. It is essential that you react quickly. Start by soaking your clothing with dish detergent like Dawn that will immediately go to work on the stain and break up the oil. If you can’t do that, you can also use a clean washcloth that is wet. Use it to blot the area where the liquid was spilled.
After you have finished blotting it, you should let it dry. Check if the stain is still there. If the e-liquid stains remain visible, you will need to wash it.
Dish detergent
The stain is usually caused by the propylene glycol, which means that it is an oil-based stain. As we mentioned earlier, e-liquid stains are an oil based one, so it’s best to treat it with dish detergent that targets grease. Make sure that you apply it as soon as possible to get the best results.
Oxyclean
One of the best solutions is Oxyclean. Many vapers have tested it, and they discovered that it could be used to remove old e-liquid stains from clothing. Additionally, you will notice that the fabric will go back to its initial color. This is something that some detergents are not able to achieve, as they will make the stain darker or lighten the area around it.
In order to wash your clothes with Oxyclean, you will need to take a tiny scoop of it and pour it over the stain. Then add a little bit of water. Try to rub the stain and make sure that the Oxyclean gets into the fabric. Afterward, you can place the clothing into the washer. Use a gentle cycle with the warm water setting.
If the stain does not go away after the first wash, you might need to repeat the entire process one more time.
Tide
Tide is another excellent alternative if you want to get rid of e-liquids stains. However, when it comes to Tide, you will find out that you need to pre-soak the fabric first. Tide works better on small sizes stains, and the rest of the material won’t be affected.
Bleach
The stain could also be caused by the coloring in the vape juice. If this is the case, you might want to use some bleach as long as your item is a bleach friendly one. This is a last resort option though and should only be used if absolutely necessary to get rid of e-liquid stains.
Impossible to undo the damage
In some cases, detergents won’t be able to help you. For example, if the e-liquid stains were exposed to sunlight or high temperatures, it will be almost impossible to get rid of it. Some types of materials are harder to get these types of stains out of too like modal, bamboo, and rayon. If you live in a hot climate and you managed to spill e-liquid over your shirt, you need to make sure that you treat it as soon as possible.
