Traveling with children can be fun, but it can also be a hassle, good driver training comes in handy. You have to keep them entertained at all times, so they won’t throw tantrums especially during long driving trips. There are some fun activities that you can prepare to keep the kids entertained during long journeys. Here are some great ideas to keep the kids’ boredom away!
Have fun with window markers
Children love to unleash their creativity, which is why window markers are one of the best ways to keep your kids entertained. Window markers are easy to wipe off and you can let your children do whatever they want and entertain themselves during long journeys. Make sure that you have baby wipes handy, so that you can remove the drawings after they are done.
Car games with the kids
A simple car game with the kids is a good way to keep them entertained. Play iSpy or the Alphabet Game. If you want to play educational games, the Alphabet Game is a good game for the entire family. As you are traveling, choose a topic and take turns throwing out words following the letters of the alphabet. There are many topics that you can choose including animals, places, names, and many more.
Bring their favorite toys with you in the car
Sometimes, kids don’t need something complicated in order to be entertained. Bring some of their favorite toys with you when you go on a long journey. Bring stuffed animals, puppets, drawing boards, and other toys that they love to play with at home.
Listen to music that everyone will enjoy
Agree on a playlist and choose songs that every member of the family will enjoy. Listening to music and singing along will help pass the time and it can also be a good entertainment for kids.
Make up a story by taking turns
Another good way to keep everyone entertained is by making up a story. One person starts a story and stops at a certain point. The next person continues a story until a full story is created. There are different ways to do this. You can choose a theme for the story or choose the main characters.
Film photography on the road
Get a few disposable cameras and give each child one camera. Allow them to take pictures on the road. You can also stop at different points on the road where there are plenty of places to see and pictures to take. After the trip, develop the rolls of film and let your kids create a collage of the pictures that they took.
These are some of the fun activities that can keep your kids entertained during long journeys. There are no rules when it comes to entertainment. All you have to do is think of things that your children will enjoy and keep them preoccupied throughout the trip. Doing activities will the family will not only make the road trip enjoyable for them, it will also be a good bonding activity for the entire family.
Comfortable car seats
Last, but certainly not least, you can’t expect kids to tolerate a long car ride if they are uncomfortable! For older kids, check out the The Clek Oobr Booster Seat. No only is it safe, it comes in awesome prints and colors and it’s really comfortable for your little one.
My 4 year old son loves his Diono Radian RXT. We have one in each of our vehicles and he is a much happier passenger now. We went through several other car seats trying to find one that he wouldn’t scream and cry in and finally landed on Diono. I feel great having him in it too because I know they are incredibly safe car seats.
My youngest (8 months old right now) travels comfortably in a Britax Boulevard 70-G3 Convertible Car Seat. We completely skipped the infant seat with him and he had his first car ride in this car seat. It’s easy to buckle him in, plus he’s comfortable and happy! This is one of my favorite car seats out of all the car seats we own.
