Art speaks to the soul while providing something beautiful to view throughout your home. Have you been wanting to update the art around your home but not sure where to start, especially when it seems like there is little time for anything while raising your family?

Adding new art to your home can be a project you work on together as a family by learning together and using family experiences to guide your choices in choosing the art that is best for your home.

Updating and upgrading the artwork in your home can be a fun project to work on over time by using family outings and trips as inspiration to add to your collection. And it is possible to add fine art to your walls, even in a home with young children believe it or not.

You may just have to be creative in how you start upgrading or adding to your fine art collection with little ones that have a tendency to be less than careful when it comes to protecting artwork or lose interest quickly when looking for that just-right piece of art while shopping.

But it is worth it to involve everyone in the family when you are trying to choose the right wall art for your home.  Involving everyone in the family in the process will make the art that hangs on your walls that much more meaningful.

Find Fine Art Online

Not so long ago, people were hesitant to purchase art online for a variety of reasons. Now that so many artists have an online presence, shopping online has become the norm for people to purchase artwork. This is perfect if you have kids and need the convenience of online shopping or simply have a busy schedule and appreciate the availability of art online now.

Buying art online can feel a little intimidating if you have never done it before, but it doesn’t have to be. An experienced curator or artist will make sure to work with you and communicate effectively so that you are fully aware of the piece of art that you are investing in.

When you choose to shop for art online, it is easy to involve the whole family taking time to click through images to find the piece that everyone loves. And even better, the stress of visiting a gallery with kids is taken away as you view the art from the comfort of home.

If you are hesitant to buy online for fear of buying art that has been made for the masses, many independent artists have their own websites or work with galleries that will ensure that they receive the appropriate commission and only sell quality work.

Because art is so personal to the artist, many artists make sure that the work they are selling online offers the same quality and uniqueness that they would sell if you were purchasing from them in person. After all, you are still the buyer whether you are buying in person or online.

Purchase Art While On A Trip

Your home is a representation of who you are as individuals and as a family and art is a natural and fun way to represent what your family admires and enjoys. The art you choose to display on the walls of your home should bring joy and inspiration to the home for both the children and adults that live there.

One of the best ways to incorporate fine art as you are growing and raising a family is to be intentional about purchasing a piece of artwork on a family trip. This experience allows you to not only have a lasting memory of the vacation, but it also allows you to find unique and unusual pieces of art that you may not have found otherwise. ‘

There are cities that are well known for their art culture and you can turn a family vacation into an educational trip as well for your kids. Even if you don’t seek out a city specifically for its art history or culture, any location around the world will have local artists that mean something to that area. Spend some time in a local art gallery while on a trip as a family to choose a piece of artwork you all can enjoy for years to come.

Choose Meaningful Pieces

As you work to establish the art collection around your home, choose artwork that sparks emotion when you view it. The joy of being intentional about adding fine art to your home is that you get to choose what artwork speaks to you.

Maybe there is a local artist in your city and you have admired their work for some time. Having local art in your home provides a deeper connection to the area in which you live and are raising your family.  It is worth investing in the artwork you enjoy because it can provide a lifetime of joy as you enjoy it hanging on the walls of your home.

Art Exposure For the Whole Family

Part of choosing art for your home is figuring out which style of art you enjoy most as a family. This is where art exposure can not only be informative for your kids and family but also fun and purposeful as it can help narrow down which type of art you hope to display in your home.

Spend some time as a family exploring the local art museums in your area and state. Take some time to discuss the different styles of painting and some of the famous artists throughout world history. And then as you learn together as a family, you can start to make inspiration lists of the styles you like the best to help you choose your next great art piece to purchase. You might discover that in searching for art you start to appreciate geography in a new way and decide to get a map wall mural for one of your rooms.

Your Fine Art Display

Displaying fine art in a home is meant for all types of homes, including those bustling with excitement due to having kids around. Investing time and money into finding the artwork that speaks the most to your whole family is worth it. Take some time to choose the artwork that all of you can enjoy and appreciate and have fun while making new art purchases together.
