Hey Fashionable Housewife readers! My name is JP and I run a little blog called Denim Debutante. How did it start?
Well, let’s keep it simple and just say that I have a ridiculous obsession with denim that sometimes gets… a little out of hand. With this obsession, however, comes a lot of experience, both with brands and styles. So, that’s why I’m here… to share a little bit of my wisdom (which sounds really silly when I say it).
One of the biggest trends (and one of my current go-to looks) to pop up this year was the Skinny Ankle Zipper jean. It’s got a modern-meets-throwback feel, and is a style that looks great on most figures. But, like many things these days, the prices aren’t always the best… so, I’ve chosen two options for testing out this style: one high end, celebrity-friendly and the other is an affordable (yet still great-fitting and fabulous!) alternate.
First, let’s start with the expensive.

James Recessive Zipper Jeans from Genetic Denim: $187.00 at ShopBop.com
Genetic Denim is known for great fits and looks that are almost always picked up by the latest starlet… so, with that, comes a bit of a higher price tag. I’m a big bargain hunter, so I snagged my pair of Genetic Denim Skinny Ankle Zipper jeans on sale, but these are the newest style. Pretty, aren’t they? :)

The Midnight Mass Stretch Knit Skinny with Long Zipper by Blank Denim: $57.00 at Karmaloop.com
Blank is one of those brands that shows you that you don’t have to pay big bucks for good quality… and these Midnight Mass Zipper Skinnies are a great example of fashion-forward looks without an offensive price tag. These are super on-trend, but won’t kill your bank account. Talk about a great combo!
I personally own both of these brands, and like them both quite a bit. I do lean toward the Genetics slightly (the detailing on the pair I own is superior to Blank, in my opinion), but for more than three times the price? You can buy two pairs of the Blanks, tie-dye one, and be ridiculously trendy… if you’re into that kind of thing!
