Over the knee boots were all over at the Fall 2009 runways and promise to be the biggest and most notable trend for Fall 2009 and Winter 2010.
The styles ranged from boots that hug the leg all the way up, to more unique ones that stand away from the leg. Over-The-Knee and Thigh High Boots are made in a variety of materials right now, but I recommend sticking to genuine leather or suede. While the patent leather and high gloss ones look pretty, you might get people asking how much you charge… Invest in a nice leather pair in basic black or brown to get the most wear out of them. If you choose suede, opt for colors like black, grey, brown, green, taupe and purple.
While these boots usually come with a large price tag, investing in a stylish pair is a smart move. Since they are so popular, you’ll be able to wear them with just about anything without the risk or raising eyebrows. Best with short dresses and mini skirts and of course with tights paired with shorts, super skinny jeans, tunics with leggings, and are also great over tights and long socks.
Before you decide to buy a pair of over the knee boots, please visit your local Marshalls, TJ Maxx, DSW or another local shoe store and try on a pair to see what you think. While this is a desirable trend, it’s not right for everyone. Try on a couple different pairs and make sure the size is right for your particular body type. The extra material that sits on your lower thigh, right above your knee, needs to lie flat and fit a bit like a glove. Stand up straight and look in the mirror to make sure that the top of the boots ‘sticks’ to your leg. You don’t want too much material just hanging there adding visual inches to your thighs. You also want to avoid any ruching or pinching.

You can wear these thigh high boots to the office, evenings out or to a party and be totally in style! Stock up one or two of these fashion-forward styles to update your Fall 2009 wardrobe.

What do you think of this trend? Will you be buying?
Last year I got a great pair of 9 west black over the knee boots at Marshalls for $79! I love them! They are so sexy and versatile! The last thing I needed was another pair of boots but at that price how could I lose???
Nice score!
Stunning!
I absolutely love these boots, but I will have to try them first as I am only 5 feet tall and have a feeling I would have a hard time finding some that fit correctly and dont go up to the top of my thigh. I may have to stick with knee high boots this year! We will see! Love love love these boots!
Just bought a pair during lunch- I will be wearing them this Saturday for my 25th. I posted a pic if anyone is interested
I have a pair of Victoria’s Secret over the knee boots in a leopard print. Are these a 2009 fashion no-no?
I’d be careful with the Leopard print! Make sure the rest of your outfit is pretty toned down the boots don’t look trashy.
Wear them with denim leggings, skinny jeans, or thick tights with solid colors on tops. Go simple on the jewelry. Try something from http://twisted-silver.com
I am about to buy the Stuart Weitzman “Lacemeup” Over the knee in Leopard Print (google them). They are beautiful! They are a birthday gift from my husband. I will be having a party, and I want the perfect outfit to step out in. I was told to wear all black, but what style? Any and all suggestions are welcomed. Pictures would be great. You can even e-mail me at tisha65@aol.com
Tisha,
Try wearing your new boots with a simple, yet classy dress like this one: http://www.saksfifthavenue.com/main/ProductDetail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524446243659&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=282574492715017&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474395222441&bmUID=1257701160853&ev19=1:23
Think I may steer away from the denim leggings, but I do have several very nice black dresses. I like the jewelry website, gave me some good ideas. I have some gorgeous simple silver and Amber jewelry that would bring in those tones from the boots and pull it all together. I also have some Brighton style jewelry that would be simple and stylish. Thanks for the ideas!
Women who arenβt fortunate enough to be able to spend $400 on, say, Report Signature Fairfaxes might want to consider:
-Pleaser Thigh High Boots, including the Legend 8868
-Fahrenheit Kamy 02
-Qupid Potency20 Thigh-High Boots
All of these can be had for $100 or less. And trust me, a life-long Boot Fetishist, any of the above will drive us Boot-fetish dudes just as beserk as the Reports. Maybe even more soβ¦
Also, Victoriaβs Secret also has a no fewer than 38 Over the Knee Boots at less than $200. The next time that I purchase Boots for a girlfriend, I would consider :
-Colin Stuart’s Over-the-knee boot at $189, and The Devon Convertible Boot at $149
-BRONX’s Thigh-high platform boot at $99
-GUESS Over-the-knee boot at $199
I really love the look….I’m wondering if my towering 5’2″-ness can pull it off?
