China Glaze Emulates the 70โs with a Free-Spirited Retro Diva Collection that is reminiscent of a time of platforms, hiphuggers and disco days.
The collection was released July 2009 and features twelve free-spirited shades that pay tribute to the sexy and exciting decade. This Fall 2009 collection from China Glaze is absolutely fabulous.
There are 6 purple-ish red shades, 4 orange-ish shades, a beautiful red and a cool dove-gray color. Below, you’ll find swatches of all the colors in the collection.

Far Out China Glaze describes this shade as olive, but I would say it’s more of a dusty rose color with caramel undertones. This is one of my favorites in the collection because it’s neutral and would go great with almost any outfit. It has just the right amount of shimmer to catch the light, without looking cheap. Love this shade!

Crusin’ A honey yellow color with an orange glow to it. This one is sheer and needs at least 2 coats for full coverage. It has a soft shimmer to it, making it perfect for finger nails.

Free Love This one jumps right out at you and screams ORANGE! It has some nice golden flecks in it that keeps it from being too bright, but it’s still a statement making color. Perfect for toes.

Street Racing Probably my favorite color out of the collection is Street Racing. It jumped out at me right away as being a unique shade that goes great with my auburn hair. I would describe this one as a burnt orange shade with a rusty copper shimmer to it. Very beautiful on long nails I think. Click here for another pic of this color.

Drive In A bold fiery red with an orange shimmer to it. This shade is perfect for statement making nails to go with your little black dress. This one is great for finger nails and toes and is a flattering shade for everyone. Love it!

Stella A raspberry shade with a fuchsia-pink shimmer to it. This is the first color in the collection that I used on my toes. It looks great with a lot of outfits. Not so much with red though… It has a purple edge to it so it looks great with black and gray outfits. Definitely one of my favs in the Retro Diva collection!

Stroll This maroon shade has gold and red sparkles in it. You can bet I will definitely be rocking this color come Christmas time! It’s just a very fun shade of red. This one is also a bit sheer, so be careful when applying it to do 2 even coats.

Short & Sassy My mom’s favorite color in the collection is definitely Short & Sassy. I received the collection in the mail the same day she came to visit me. She immediately sat down and polished her toes with this rich cranberry shade. It has a low shimmer but is a nice rich color that is great for toes this Summer, or finger nails come Fall.

Skate Night Similar to Short & Sassy, just lighter. This one is more of a raspberry color with a pinkish shimmer to it. Even though this is a Fall collection, I think this color is great for Summer.

Thunderbird This is another one that is great for a date night or special occasion. It’s a rich shade of ruby red with a light shimmer to it. Great for toes all year round. Easy to apply to. One coat looks great and dries quick.

Cords I like the rocker chick vibe to this one. Looks great on short nails I think. I will definitely wear this one again. It’s a medium gray with a multi color metallic flecks in it which gives it a nice shimmer. Unfortunately, you have to apply this one carefully because brush strokes show up.

Let’s Groove Yes ladies, those are my toes! I had Cords on my finger nails all week and didn’t want to remove it to get a pic of Let’s Groove, so I just took a pic of my toes. Sorry!! I LOVE this purple color. It has the perfect amount of shimmer made up of cobalt blue and pink flecks. Very, very cool.
So ladies, what’s your favorite one? Which one would you buy?
