Some people are pretty particular about their toilet paper. I am especially picky about toilet paper and loath using public restrooms because of the lack of sufficient toilet paper.
To me, there is nothing worse than toilet paper than is completely and utterly useless or effective. I mean, I know this isn’t a hot topic to talk about, but poor quality toilet paper seriously annoys the heck out of me. Go into any public restroom facility and chances are you’ll find toilet tissue that is indeed much like tissue. Tissue paper, to be exact. It’s either soon thin that you have to use a gigantic amount to get the job done or it’s so rough that you don’t even want it touching you. (cheese grater toilet paper)
So last month, Charmin sent me a pack of their new Ultra Soft toilet paper to try and asked me to blog about it if I liked the product. Being a big fan of Charmin, I couldn’t resist.
I’ve been using Charmin loyally for about 5 years now. Growing up, we always had Angel Soft or another cheap brand of toilet paper in my house and I hated it. Then I grew up, moved out, got married and start buying my own toilet paper. That’s when I discovered the wonder and the glory that is Charmin toilet paper.
I was always crazy about the price, so I took the time to buy cheap toilet paper and see how many days it lasted. Then buy Charmin and count how many days that lasted. Surprisingly, it took twice as long to go through the Charmin because I could so much less of it. I seriously took the time to calculate all this out and found out that it is definitely more cost effective to buy Charmin. Especially if you can spring for the large size packs of 24 Regular Rolls (Six 4-Roll Packs). Then it costs even less per roll and you save even more money.
Charmin Ultra Soft is so soft and absorbent, but it’s not dusty like Cottenelle (which I hate!). Plus you can use 4x less than the leading value brand. That’s because it has absorbent cushions, so you can get more out of less. I only use 3 or 4 sheets at 1 time, but Charmin recommends using an average of 7 sheets. Personally I think that’s way too much for the average person! According to a recent survey conducted by GfK Roper Public Affairs and Media for Charmin, approximately half of households (around 45%) are using 10 rolls of toilet paper every month!!!! If you are used to buying something like Scotts toilet paper, than this probably sounds about right. Personally, I think that is absolutely absurd!!!!
With Charmin Ultra Soft (or even Charmin Ultra Strong) you can use approximately 7 sheets of Charmin versus about 28 sheets of the other leading value brand. That’s 4 times more! Your average “value” roll of tissue paper costs around $.75 per roll, even if you buy it in bulk. Charmin costs around $1.50 per roll, even if you get something as small as a 4 pack. So when you are shopping and you see a 4 pack of store brand tissue for like $3.50 and you see a 4 pack of the Charmin sitting there for like $5.50, you probably are thinking, “Ooooh I’m going to save money and buy the store brand tissue!” Um, wrong cupcake!
4 pack of store brand toilet paper = $3.50 x 4 = $14 per week
4 pack of Charmin toilet paper = $5.50 = $5.50 per week
Hello?!! That’s not rocket science…
So if you’re trying to cut back and save more, please try Charmin Ultra Soft and be amazed at the difference. Not only do you get more for less, but your butt is going feel a lot better too!
