We’re always looking for ways to update our bathrooms, so it should come as no surprise that the start of this new decade is already seeing many exciting new trends pop up. No matter if you’re getting ready to renovate your bathroom in the next few months or simply looking for some inspiration for the future, we’ve got some of the top bathroom design trends you won’t want to miss. Sinks, vanities, bathtubs and showers – make sure you’re aware of all the latest design trends that will make your bathroom the hottest in town.
Switch up the tap colors
Silver has definitely had its day as the de facto color for sink, bath, and shower taps. However, there are also new colors on the scene. Brass and gold are emerging as the most exciting options when it comes to bathroom taps, as they really make a statement and give the space a vintage feel. Adding a golden mirror frame or towel rail amps up the warm tones even further. Black is occasionally seen as a trending color for taps, but we think gold or brass has more longevity and less of a novelty look.
Underfloor heating
Seriously, how do you not have underfloor heating yet? It’s no fun to step out of a warm shower, only to be greeted by an ice-cold floor which is why this is one of the top bathroom design trends. Especially in winter, underfloor heating is a lifesaver and transforms the bathroom from a “get in, get out” area into a relaxing zone of warmth and comfort. It can be quite an expensive undertaking, however, so only do this if you plan on sticking around in the same home for many years to come.

Freestanding bathtubs
Nothing says a modern and chic bathroom quite like a freestanding bathtub (especially the claw foot models). If you were already looking into a new shower, then you could also include a freestanding tub as part of your bathroom overhaul if you have the space. You’ll find that the tubs not only look amazing and are great to use, but will stand the test of time and never feel outdated.
Accent walls
Who says all four walls need to be the same color? Accent walls are rapidly becoming an exciting way to try out new bathroom design trends and ideas and let your artistic side loose. Whether it’s one wall made from a different material like brick, tile, marble, or wood, or one simply painted another color that complements or contrasts the shade of the other three walls, accent walls are great for adding that extra something. Don’t go too wild and make every wall something different, but do consider the accent wall idea for an interesting element in your bathroom.
Two sinks are better than one
Any couple living together who has to get up at the same time is familiar with the common problem of fighting over who uses the bathroom first. With two sinks and two mirrors, two people can get ready for the day at their own pace and not have to feel rushed. It might seem a bit decadent to add another sink, but as time is money, it’s worth the price you pay and will result in far fewer arguments!

Shower screen revolution
Forget shower curtains and brushed glass doors, and start embracing the shower screen. What was previously more function, has now incorporated form. As you can see from these designs, a new shower screen could be just what your bathroom needs and is sure to impress guests every time.
These bathroom design trends are sure to wow and step up your home decor game in 2020!
