Having an at-home date night can be more fun than you think! My husband and I discovered we can get much better quality time with each other just staying home.
As you can imagine, after having three children and with no suitable babysitters in sight, my husband and I don’t get out of the house without the children very often. In fact, I think we have only been out of the house together, without the children, less than a dozen times in nine years.
Some may think this absurd and wonder how we are still married but luckily we have found our own way of making time for each other. We recently implemented an earlier and more strict bedtime schedule for the children so that we could enjoy our evenings together child-free. It’s been amazing. I don’t know why we didn’t try doing this years ago…
One of our favorite things to do now is have a little at-home date night after the kids are sleeping.
We pour ourselves a couple of glasses of our favorite Riesling into our LifeFactory wine glasses (silicone covered and stemless – perfect for anyone with kids in the house!), grab a box of crackers and Alouette Le Petite Fromage (little cheese spread with only 40 calories per serving) and then we curl up on the couch with a big, cozy blanket to watch an episode of Game of Thrones together. (We just started season 5!)
Being able to just chill out together for an hour before we hop into bed has been great for us and definitely proved to us that we don’t need to waste money on a babysitter to have a good night. We thoroughly enjoy our date nights at home!

You’ll find that an at-home date night can be just as much, if not more fun, as going out on the town for a date night. My husband and I never enjoyed the night life anyway, so we find out at-home date nights to be more than satisfactory. Quality time on the couch with a few treats and a good show is not to be underestimated!
