Christmas is almost everybody’s favorite time of year! That’s why a lot of people celebrate Christmas in July! I remember my grandmother always had a Christmas in July party every year and we exchanged gifts, had lots of delicious food and baked goods, and we decorated the inside and outside of the house with festive decorations.
The spirit of Christmas is something truly magnificent to behold, with festive celebrations, delicious treats, and sharing presents. However, what truly sets Christmas apart from other holidays are the decorations.ย Red and green will always be a classic, but there are other color combinations to try. Sometimes shaking it up helps keep things alive. Let’s see what happens when we break tradition.
Colorful Tinsel
There is so much variety when it comes to tinsel and the colors are unlimited. You can let out your inner-child and go for thick tinsel in bright colors, or you can keep it elegant with simple silver. If you want to stay minimalist, you can get fine strands of tinsel, sometimes called angel hair. Tinsel will add light and sheen. It can be used inย nearly any part of your home, from banisters to picture frames and plants. Weaving it through with lights will create a shimmering, gem-like effect that is absolutely striking.
Sleek Silver

Silver is a regal color and a precious metal. You’ll find its shine in frost and icicles. Bring this winter-look inside with a few strokes of paint.ย If you take a walk, collect some birch branches, pine cones, and leaves. Paint them silver and see what design ideas you can come up with. You can place them in vases or make a wreath for your door. You’ll be surprised at how quickly they transform your home into a winter wonderland.
Pure Gold

Gold has a different feel to silver. It is a warmer color, recalling candlelight and fires. If you find it too much, you can tone it down by using it sparingly between silver. You can make decorations, like golden pears, to place on your table. To be more subtle, just a dab of gold glitter on candles or your painted birch branches, will give extra glisten. Be playful and create the warm, welcoming, atmosphere you want your guests to enjoy and remember.
White Light
At the time of year with the longest nights, there’s nothing more welcome than light. White is as bright as it gets. You can bring this fresh snow-color into your home in other ways as well. Why not try white Christmas stockings? Or white wrapping paper? White pairs elegantly with black or blue. You can build this in by stitching a line of black ribbon around the top of a white Christmas stocking, or tying up your white gift with a blue ribbon. You could also try a white candle with a blue or black ribbon around the center.
If you want light but with more color, try something a little different. You can buy single color strands of lights in colors like purple, blue, and pink.
You can shop for lights atย Christmaslightsetc.com, where you’ll findย every type of light you can imagine.
Christmas is never very far away. Whether you are going to celebrate Christmas in July or wait until December, try decorating with a different mindset. You never know what kind of Christmas joy a little change can bring.
