Large Purse vs. Diaper Bag
I’ll be honest that I have never been a huge fan of diaper bags. I carried a very nice one that was a gift on occasion, but mostly I am an over-sized purse person. And really isn’t all that a diaper bag really is? Just in baby/utilitarian theme?
Last week there was a post that I did where someone commented saying that she liked the purse but stated that she “couldn’t carry a stylish bag because she has a babe in diapers.” I don’t mean at all to pick on you BarkingDogShoes – I just want to say that you are not the only mom that feels this way! But it is unnecessary! You CAN! Moms everywhere – listen up! You are free from the diaper bag chains!!! (Unless you like diaper bags and then you just do whatever makes you happy!)
Here are two SUPER SIMPLE yet chic totes/oversized purses that will very fashionably substitute for your diaper bag, if you so choose:
This first one I am actually using these days. The ombre finish is very stylish these days and the patent look makes it durable and easy to clean. And for $19.99 at Target – who can beat it?
I’m also loving this purple basketweave tote from Forever 21 for only $26.80.
Either of these bags can fit plenty of baby goods and look chic too!
So what do you think is for you? Diaper bag or over-sized purse?
I’m currently looking for a purse-style diaper bag. I think there are features in a diaper bag that you won’t find in a standard purse that are necessary. Like all the pockets/compartments on the inside and outside for diapers, wipes, bibs, changing pad, etc. You don’t want everything jumbled up on the bottom. I have found a lot of cute diaper bags that look like an oversized purse, so I think the designers are moving in the right direction.
Suzy – good point – diaper bags are well equipped and for sure designers are starting to move toward diaper bags that “blend in” more, so to say. One thing I have done to keep things straight is to buy inexpensive cosmetic bags in various sizes to “organize” the interior of my purses with all the baby/kid stuff. Then if you get to leave the house by yourself (what luck!) then you can easily transfer the kid stuff out so you aren’t dragging around diapers but no kids.
Thanks for the comment!
