Fall 2008 Trends: Bangs And Fringe

No matter what your length of hair, bangs and fringe are very much in style.
A heavy, brow-skimming fringe and blunt lines characterize the mod and bob cuts. Generous slicing or texturizing will lighten up the bluntness and allow for more movement and separation.
Style with a swooping motion, directing the hair around the head or straight toward the face from the crown or a deep side part. Let the bangs veil an eye, if you can stand it, for a sultry, mysterious feel.
Long hair also lends well to this style. This cut is based on the same principles as a basic, short mod hair style, except the back lengths are longer. It’s the blunt styling around the face that maintains a mod feel.
Using hair products like waxes, clays, or muds add texture and a bit of grungy-funk to this classic, but trendy style.

So… I am cutting my hair tomorrow into an Eva Longoria mid-length cut. But I need to know, are side-swept bangs still in? Or is the trend heavy toward blunt cut or forehead-covering bangs cut? It reminds me a little too much of the haircuts my mom gave me in the 1980s that went clear back to my mid scalp. I think I’ll see myself in the mirror and ask the stylist when I can go out for recess… :)
I recommend going for the side swept bangs. They are still more popular than the blunt cuts bangs, plus they are more flattering. If you do want to go for the blunt cut banks, specify you want “fringe” so they will layer them a tiny bit so they aren’t so structured. You still want that feminine appeal.
I’m getting my hair trimmed tomorrow too. My hair is almost down to my shoulders now. Trying to grow it out now, but trying to get it all the same length, and my hair is growing really uneven.
Let me know what you end up with tomorrow!! I’d love to see a pic, if you’re willing to send. I love seeing what other people do with their hair!
