Review: Whooga Classic Tall Ugg Boots
About a month ago, I got an email from a rep at Whooga boots that wanted to know if I’d be willing to try out a pair of their boots. While the warm winter boots are quite controversial in the fashion world, you really can’t deny that they are practical for winter and a must-have for anyone living in the North East. Upon learning that Whooga boots were made in Australia, I agreed to try out a pair.
I chose the Classic Tall Ugg Boots in chestnut. And even shipping from Australia, they came surprisingly quick!
Being a sucker for cute packaging, I was delighted with the adorable box they came in…
I untied the neatly tied bow and opened the box to find a cozy looking pair of boots…
They have a cute little label on the back, just like Ugg Australia boots, but more whimsical looking…
Something I noticed right away, that completely sets Whooga boots on a level above Ugg Australia is the thickness of the Merino Sheepskin wool. You can read more about Whooga ThermoFleece™ Technology here. Just look at how thick and cozy the inside of these boots are…
Whooga ThermoFleece sheepskin is treated without the Chrome Tanning agents that are used in the majority of tanning factories. This results in Whooga boots being both biodegradable and recyclable which is friendlier for the environment. Chrome Tanning is not only harmful to the environment but often causes irritation to those with sensitive skin and is actually detrimental to the durability and flexibility of the sheepskin.
So not only are these boots warm and cozy, but they are eco-friendly too!

And we buy them because they are a brand we are familiar with. Everyone is wearing a pair, so we figure they have to be good, right?
Whooga ugg boots have proven to be higher quality than Ugg Australi’s popular boots. You really can see and feel the difference. To be completely honest with you, I have a pair of each. I have a pair of Ugg Australia classic tall boots in dark brown and this pair of Whooga classic tall boots in chestnut. I personally prefer the Whooga boots because the lining is thicker and softer. It feels like you’re walking on a thick bed of soft cotton balls.
And personally, I’d much rather have Australian ugg boots that are actually from Australia and made in Australia. Seems more authentic, ya know?

I’ve never really gotten the Ugg thing, and I don’t deal with cold winters, so I have no practical incentive to try them. But… these are really cute!!! From the photos, it looks like the soles and stitching trim are much neater and more polished than I think of Uggs as being. I’ll have to remember Whooga!

I struggeled against the trend of the Ugg boot for a long time and finally gave in about 3 years ago! I was certainly missing out. They are so warm and comfortable! Definitely a must have in the north east. I would love more but they are a bit $$ I have 2 tall pairs and would love an ankle pair…hmmm might need to get some!

Your Whooga boots shipped from China? That’s odd… I don’t think mine did. Then again, I could be mistaken. I don’t have the original package it came in and I don’t recall noting the from address…

I got mine today,, with chinese postage, whooga site says thay use EMS , look it up,, chinese shipping service. box was trashed too, gutted as was a present for my mum.

It actually says on their site , tucked away in the myths section,, some are made in aisa due to demand.. ?! so what.. they made the odd pair here and there from china due to demand?

Hi! I purchased my boots from whooga.com, but they definetely came from China. I wrote an e- mail to the company and the answer was that they made some of the boots in China because it’s cheaper for them…I don’t know if they send authentic boots for people to review but sale fakes…I’m confused and don’t know if my pair are made of sheepskin leather or not…

I’d like to help clear up a couple of issues some posters have mentioned… Firstly I agree that we could be more transparent on our website and I’ll initiate changes to improve this.
We were manufacturing all of our boots in Australia up until the start of this season. Sadly a number of issues forced our business into outsourcing additional capacity. We have implemented processes to ensure our quality does not drop and we still use only Australian leathers in every pair of boots. Very few boots are now made in Australia, many claiming 100% Australian production actually import boots via Sea freight and then ship from Australia. Labour costs are very high in Australia and our Government provides no subsides or trade protection like many other developed countries. We do however aim to be producing all of our boots in Australia once more and will review this decision at the end of this season, currently our support staff and head office is still located within Australia which is why we answer enquires at unusual hours.
On this note we offer everyone unsatisfied with their boots or our service a full refund, usually within 24hrs of contact. The vast majority of boxes arrived undamaged, we have however this week began to implement boxes with a stronger design to ensure all arrive in a presentable condition. I would anticipate we will be shipping with these boxes within 2 weeks.

Re–my scathing take on whooga’s
I have had very friendly email correspondance from martyn at whooga. in Aus.
He has offered me 15 pounds back to get a new box here for the boots which is very kind,( I’ll see if it actually happens yet )
I compared the whooga boots I got from china to the original UGGS i bought in aus 5 years ago. When Uggs were still made there.
The Uggs after 5 years of constant wear from my wife are still thicker and woolier at the top of the boot.
SO either whoogas have lost somthing in the transfer to china production, Or Uggs Just got worse since usa bought them up. But I don’t find the above review matches my findings. I’m sure Whooga sent their best set for review.
Either way the bottom line is that these are probably the best cheaper alternative to Uggs.. But whooga does need to be much clearer about the authenticity of them.
The original Uggs i got in aus 5 yrs back cost 50 pounds.

I recieved my Whooga boots today, from China, and smelling VERY strongly of solvent/glue, so much so that i had to shut thaem back in the box quickly. Not happy with the colourt either, orderd chestnut, recieved light brown. Disappointed to say the least……….
Also, there was no invoice or anything enclosed which for a supposedly legitimate company I found very suspect. No indication at all of where the boots were from, not even a ‘Thank you for buying Whooga’ compliment slip or the like…….
I have a pair n I feel they’re fantastic! I had a pair of Ugg Australia’s before these and the Whooga’s are sooo much softer and warmer. And my Ugg Australia’s were ruined as soon as I got them wet once in the rain while I wore the Whoogas and their still the same color and the grain of the wool is FANTASTIC and so soft. Yeah the shipping label said from China, but they are still a lot better than my UGG Australia’s. And mine looked exactly like the ones in the pictures above. You guys saying that the box was broken in and everything, that could be because of custums. Neway, I’m definitely getting another pair cause they’re FABULOUS!

I just received these in the post this morning. Ordered size 37 and was sent 27. Very annoying. Also didn’t look bvery good quality. Box only slightly damaged. Boots fingermarked and looked slightly unmatching in the way they are stitched. I could have bought a similar product for a fraction of the price at my local market. I was seduced by their website. Also didn’t read the returns policy properly. You cannot get a refund only exchange. Never buy footware on the internet. Particularly if it is made in China.
So, im confused. Are they legit or not?? I really want a pair, but dont want to pay UGG prices…
The Whooga boots are defintely shipping from China – the label was in Kanji. Additionally an email from the person who made the first contact with me from Whooga stated that the manufacturing of the boots has been ‘outsourced.’
The innersole of the black boots I ordered is white while the remainder of the boot is black and the inside lining is black – need to check to see if the lining for black US Uggs is black.

Chinese scam!!!! I bought a pair for my wife…. they arent made in Australia… they ship direct from China… and have the solvent/paint smell of FAKE UGGS. I doubt they are even real Merino, as only VOC drenched fake fur mixed with carcinogens can create a smell like that.
There is no customer service. They will hassle you to death to PROVE to them with emailed photos that there is something wrong with the boots before they will ever provide info or an address to make a return…How can you prove a STENCH with a photo?
Unlike a legitimate business, they DO NOT send you a shipping invoice or return label….just a 100% written in Chinese EMS shipping label that was used to send it to you. Go to their CONTACT section of their website….NO ADDRESS or PHONE NUMBER or EMAIL. In the same section is a frequent question section which includes the question of where the boots are made…answer is BLANK.
DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY. They are liars, fakers, and they sell a toxic çhinese product that I would bet money is manufactured with chemicals that are illegal in places like the US & Australia. Other than paint thinner and solvents, I have never smelled anything like it…. especially not in something that is meant to touch bare skin.

Well, I gave in and ordered a pair… I was a bit disappointed as they didn’t even come in a box, they were simply in a plastic bag. Delivery was a lot quicker than expected, and they arrived within a week of being shipped which I was happy with, it almost made up for them being box-less! They seem good enough, the smell was slightly over whelming to begin with but that has now faded. The fur is thick, but seems to pull away in clumps very easily. I’m almost too worried to wear them out, as under the toes the sheepskin seems very thin, and I’m worried it will wear away like the cheaper versions in the shops. Overall, although they are very comfy and cosy, I’m not sure the ‘quality’ of them is what it’s made out to be.
@Sofi, I hate that you decided to purchase this inferior product that is actually man-made fiber versus lambskin. Everyone needs to let everyone know that this is a scam company and the products are not worth the money.

whooga boots are definitely low-quality. this “sheepskin” is synthetic and mass-produced in factories. while they may be cheaper than ugg australia, ugg australia boots are MUCH higher quality and wil last you much longer. it is real sheepskin, which is put very generously inside the boot, and the soles wil not wear down as easily as these boots. while these Whooga kind may LOOK high quality, chances are they will wear down if you wear them too much. ugg australia boots are a MUCH better deal quality-wise.
