Summer is my favorite time of the year, especially since I live in New England. We don’t have that nice 3 months of each season like some places do. It’s like 2 months of spring, 2 months of summer, 2 months of fall and 6 months of winter. Or at least that’s what it feels like sometimes!
I LIVE for summer days and warm weather. From juicy seasonal fruits like watermelon and strawberries to driving east until I hit the ocean, there is something special about summer.
Of course with the warm weather, summer is the perfect time to be outside and enjoy the fresh air with the whole family!
Today, I’m sharing 6 family-friendly fun summer activities that you can enjoy this summer with your whole family!
1. Learn To Swim
You can turn this sweaty summer day into chilling fun and relaxing with family if you try something new to learn. Do your kids know how to swim? Chances are if you don’t have a pool in your backyard, they probably don’t. Summer is the best time to be in the water so why not make it a family affair?
Make visits to your town’s local pool or lake or even sign up for swimming lessons! If your town or a town nearby has a lake, chances are they offer summertime swimming lessons. If your kids don’t know how to swim, keep them safe with SwimWays swim vest so they can keep their head above water while they learn to swim.
2. Visit Disney World

Have you been thinking to visit Disney World for a long time? Well, it’s high time to hit Disney World with the whole family this summer. From the amazing weather of Orlando to delicious places to dine, everything is worthy of reaching there.
Well, Disney World is a place where you have to walk miles after miles to explore rides, foods, and live entertaining music. So, it’s best to grab a lightweight stroller to carry your baby or toddler (or all your bags!) all around the Disney World.
3. Go On A Picnic

Kids absolutely LOVE having a picnic! A picnic is enjoyable any time the weather is nice and you don’t have to go far to do it. If you have any grass at all, you can have a picnic at home. Even a blanket on a porch can be a fun picnic! If you don’t have a yard, head to your local park with the kids to have lunch on a picnic blanket. It’s an easy, cheap, fun summer activity that almost ALL kids enjoy.
Go ahead and pack up fresh foods, snacks, drinks, napkins, and get in the car with your whole family. Choose a picnic spot in the woods, in a field, a park, or even at the beach. It will make your vacation refreshing and is one of those fun summer activities your kids won’t forget.
4. Make A Garden

Do you have any yard space where you live? All you need is the smallest plot or even a patio or deck area and you can transform your outdoor space into a beautiful garden this summer. All of the family members will enjoy the fun summer activities that coincide with gardening. From selecting which flowers to get to planting and watering them daily, this is one family project that keeps the fun going all summer long and is something you can all do together.
So, what you’re waiting for? This is one of the best summer activities you can do with your kids that will help them learn, build skills, and have fun all at the same time.
5. Build A Family Library

There are hardly any people who don’t read books. Reading a book is a great way to pass the time and if you can make it a habit, it will be a lifetime asset to both you and your kids. Don’t waste the summer vacation spacing out. You can do something better than that!
All of the family members should start reading books and gather them into a family library for the next generation. It is a lifetime investment and one of the best fun summer activities you can do for your kids.
6. Clean, Rearrange, & Bring New Furniture

If your home is starting to feel more like a house full of junk, it’s might be time to clean, rearrange, and maybe even bring in some new furniture to freshen things up! From the bedroom to the kitchen, you maintain your own personal space but things can get crazy pretty quickly. Rather than spending lazy time in the hammock out back, get the whole family involved on a whole home refresh!
You and your spouse can easily get the kids involved and everything can help clean the whole house! Older kids can help do things like paint a room, hold up pictures while you put screws in the wall, or help you iron new drapes. Hubby can help rearrange the furniture to help give the room a whole new look! If you can spare the extra cash, grabbing a few new furniture items from your local Target can make your home look on-trend. You can turn any home renovations into fun summer activities if you try hard enough!

Summer is a great time to take a pause from electronics and get outside with the whole family! Whether you are trotting off to Disney World for a family experience you’ll never forget or staying close to home to take advantage of BBQ season, you are sure to have a great summer if you focus on doing fun summer activities with your family!.
