This spring, there are several hot eyeshadow hues that are trending now from shimmery metallics to gorgeous navy and everything in between. Whether you like to play it safe with your makeup or tackle a bold new trend, these five eyeshadow hues are the perfect shades to try this season.
Navy
Instead of a traditional smoky eye, this spring it’s all about navy shadow. In fact, navy shadow looks more flattering on older women because it’s less likely to emphasize wrinkles or crepey eyelids like blacks and grays can. I think this is a lovely, fresh take on a classic black smoky eye – don’t you? A few to try:
- Maybelline EyeStudio Baked Eyeshadow Duo in Navy Narcissist, $7.29, drugstore.com
- LA Girl Duo Eyeshadow in Classic Silver/Navy, $4, cherryculture.com
- DuWop Smoke Palette in Navy Seal (pictured,) $28, Dillards
Metallic
Whether you choose gold, silver or a more daring shade, metallic eyeshadow was seen all over spring 2012 runways and it’s easy to see why! Infinitely wearable, metallic shadows can be worn alone for a gorgeous, glimmering shine or used in conjunction with other shadows for the perfect eye look. Three of our favorites:
- Bobbi Brown Metallic Eyeshadow in Burnt Sugar (pictured,) $21, bobbibrowncosmetics.com
- Milani Metallic Baked Eyeshadow in Purrr-fect Purple, $6.47, Walmart
- L’Oreal HIP Metallic Eyeshadow Duo in Platinum, $8.49, Ulta
Green
From pale pastel to highly saturated forest green, green shadows are a fresh new look to try this spring. If you prefer a hint of the color, try lining your upper lid with a green eyeliner for a bit of pop or go for broke with an all-over green smokey eye. Three to try:
- NYX Single Eyeshadow in Lime Green, $5, Amazon
- Urban Decay Stardust Shadow in Griffith (pictured,) $20, Sephora
- Palladio Baked Shadow Trio in Green Forest, $8.99, Sally Beauty Supply
