Outfit Ideas: Mint Green and Coral

Mint green and coral are two very popular spring colors right now. So many different ways to wear this color combo and today I think I hit the nail right on the head with this one.

I layered a Neon Coral Sweater ($32/Gap) with a mint green leopard print blouse (similar here) underneath. I thought ankle zip jeans (similar here) would be appropriate with the sandal booties I couldn’t wait to break out!

I’ve been wearing this 2 Stone Custom Sterling Silver Infinity Birthstone Necklace from Eve’s Addiction ($42) almost non stop since I received it. I had it customized with the birthstones of my two kids. It’s simple, elegant, goes with every outfit and everything I wear, plus it’s a great reminder of my kids. (They are with me 24/7 – like I really need a reminder! lol) I love this piece though and I think it’s a great Mother’s Day Gift Idea.

I’m also loving this Two Tone Enamel Bangle in Electric Blue from Coldwater Creek ($30). It’s comfortable, easy to put on and off with the hinge design, very versatile because of the two tone colors and I get compliments on it all the time. They have a lot of great jewelry and accessories on sale right now. (Another Mother’s Day gift idea for ya!)

Outfit Ideas: Wearing Socks with Mary Jane Shoes

Today, I spent the whole day shopping at Target, checking out their Threshold Collection. I’m doing a Spring Makeover on my bedroom and will show you the before and after pics this coming Tuesday! I think you’re going to love it…

I’m not so good with the interior decorating so I downloaded a Windows 8 app called House & Home to help me figure out what I wanted to do in my bedroom. Then I went on Target.com to check out the Threshold Collection and find the items I wanted for my bedroom makeover. Once I picked out everything I wanted, I headed to my local Target and bought it all!

Since I knew this is what my day would entail, I dressed comfy.

I think this is one of those outfits where you either love it, or you hate it… I am loving the green and I got compliments on my outfit all day while I was out, but I’ll tell ya, in a picture it’s really obvious that my “greens” don’t match! I think it looks better in person…

What’s going to be the controversial item here is wearing socks with mary janes. I got a lot of “LIKES” on Instagram, including one from GAP!

How do you feel about the wearing socks with mary jane shoes? Love it or hate it, ladies?

Day 9 of 12 Days of Style – Floral Print Jeans

What is 12 Days of Style? From now until Christmas, I’m trying to wear something something fun, trendy or out of the ordinary to get myself out of a style slump! Here is Day 9!

I’m wearing floral print jeans with my favorite Dansko Nat Boots and a faux-fur sweater I just bought on Zulily for only $17.99! It was originally $98.00. Score!

I got these jeans pretty cheap too. Only $17.50 on eBay instead of $49.50 retail.

What do you think of this outfit?

Day 5 of 12 Days of Style – Free People Jacket

Christmas is almost here and yet I’m not really feeling the “holiday spirit” yet. So I’m trying something desperate… 12 Days of Style! From now until Christmas, I’m trying to wear something something fun, trendy or out of the ordinary! Here is Day 5…

I just bought this Free People Tapestry Moto Jacket on Shopbop.com during their Black Friday sale. It was 35% off and I got another 15% off with a coupon code. Unfortunately, I now see that it’s 50% off! I hate when that happens… Harumph.

There was only one review for this jacket on Shopbop.com and it said the jacket ran small. I listened to her and bought this in a size 4. Unfortunately, it’s much too loose. (I normally wear a size 2.) It’s big enough to wear on top of a thick bulky sweater and that’s not how I had planned on wearing it. Other than the fact that it’s looser than I wanted it, I absolutely ADORE this jacket. I just wish I hadn’t listened to that other review and just bought my regular size. You’ve been warned!

I’m wearing it with denim leggings and those super comfortable Jafa Boots. Feather earrings from Claires are a nice boho touch.

If you want this jacket for yourself, consider entering our Shopbop.com Giveaway for a chance to win a $100 Gift Card for Shopbop.com!(Giveaway ends Dec 28, 2012)

Today’s Outfit: TJ Maxx Score Outfit #1

Last week, I scored big time at TJ Maxx! What would have cost me over $1,500 in a department store cost me around $200 in T.J.Maxx! Oh yeah, I’m a Maxxinista baby…

I bought mostly wardrobe staples and accessories that would bring my summer wardrobe into Fall without too much effort (or cost). One of my favorite items I purchased was a cropped faux leather jacket that was on sale for just $20! I an IN LOVE with this jacket!

My other favorite score were these rust colored ponte knit jeggings that were only $14.99!!! I can wear them with so many different things through the entire Fall season AND probably into winter too!

Here are 2 different outfit examples of items I purchased at TJ Maxx that feature the black jacket and the rust colored skinnies…

Both of those gorgeous blouses I bought at TJ’s too – one for $12.99 and one for $14.99. And those absolutely adorable animal print studded ballet flats practically jumped into my shopping cart all by themselves… Seriously. They knew they had to come home with me. And at only $16.99, I wasn’t going to protest.

It got cold, fast, here in New England so I wasn’t about to wear a thin blouse today. So I’m wearing a black long sleeve shirt under a gray sweater (two things that were already in my wardrobe) and I’m wearing them with that black leather jacket, the rust colored jeggings and those studded ballet flats. Super cute and super comfy!

We want YOU to score big at TJ Maxx too! Enter our TJ Maxx giveaway for a chance to win a $100 gift card for TJ Maxx! TWO WINNERS will be chosen!! Enter for chance to win today!

Mother’s Day Gift Idea: Tanger Outlets Part 2

Wondering what to get your mom for mother’s day? Keep reading on to learn more about my experience at Tanger Outlets and what I bought MY mom for Mother’s Day and maybe you’ll get some ideas!

Did you miss Part 1? Click here to read it.

After we got out of Old Navy, we headed across the parking lot over to Rue 21, a store I have been wanting to check out but had never been in before. It was actually pretty cool, but most of the clothes are geared towards juniors. Lots of brightly colored, graphic tees and more…

As always, I headed straight for the clearance racks and scored some awesome tops and a put together a neat little outfit too!

I also got an awesome dress for my mom for only $16.99

All of those clothes only cost me $44.94! Discounts taken at the register included 50% off several of the items. I was quite pleased!!

From there, we headed over to Bath & Body Works and grabbed a bunch of hand sanitizers because you can never have enough of those!

By then, it was almost 4:00pm so we headed across the street to the Green Ginger Chinese Restaurant. The food was pretty amazing and the prices were great. I would definitely go back there!

When we headed back to the outlets, we decided we definitely couldn’t pass up going to the L’eggs Hanes Bali Playtex Outlet for some serious bra shopping!

After almost 2 hours and 47 bras later, I purchased 4 bras – 2 bras for me, 2 bras for my mom, some steeply discounted socks as well as a pair of undies, all for just under $65. The bras were normally $25-$30 each but they were having a storewide 30% off sale so that saved us a lot on top of finding two of the bras on the clearance rack. Win!

From there, I went to Gap Outlet. I hadn’t gotten anything for my little dude all day and he really needed some new pants since he’s growing like a weed and almost 2 years old now. I got him a cute pair of grey pants off the clearance rack (of course!) for only $11.99, a baseball cap for only $4.99, a pack of adorable socks I couldn’t pass up for $12.99, a little tie on sale for only $3.99 and a pair of jeans for $15.99.

They talked me into opening a Gap credit card to get 20% off my order. If it was 10%, I probably would have said never mind, because I already have an Old Navy credit card, but I couldn’t say no to 20% off. At the register I grabbed a light up ball for my son to play with in the car on the way home for $3.99. My total, after the 20% off was just $46.34 for all 6 items. Do I know how to shop or what?!

Our last stop was Dressbarn…. My mother talked me into going there, although I really didn’t want to… I had never been in a Dressbarn before but just the name alone made me not want to shop there! “Dress… BARN… ?! I’m more of a Banana Republic or Loft girl myself…” I said to her. “You’ll love it! Come on!” my mom said and dragged me in.

I was exhausted and happy to finally sit down and let my mom do a little shopping. They were having a major sale on shoes… all of them, including boots, were only $12.99 a pair!!!!! WOAH! What?! Okay, I had to get in on that… We spent about an hour trying on every single pair of shoes in the store just about, and chose 4 pairs. My mom also got a pair of stretch jeans and a pair of leggings. The total came to $63.50 which was great for 4 pairs of shoes and 2 pairs of pants! Like, wow.

When I got home, I put all my bags in the kitchen in a pile and stared at them for a moment…

Um…….. where’s my Dressbarn bag? WHERE’S MY DRESSBARN BAG?! WITH ALL THE SHOEBOXES?! OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!

Apparently, I forgot my bags in the store. And they didn’t call me and tell me until over a half an hour after I left the store… and was on the way home… but I didn’t have cell phone service at the time and didn’t realize that I had a message until I checked my phone AFTER I was already home and had discovered I forgot the bag.

O.M.G.

One phone call later and I will be able to pick up the entire purchase at my local Dressbarn in Nashua, NH sometime this week.

Other than THAT little debacle, I had a wonderful time at Tanger’s. I actually met with the assistant manager at Shopping Services before I shopped the outlets and she told me all about the outlets, the sale and promotions they had going on and all kinds of stuff like that. She was amazing, super polite and friendly.

I’ve been to other outlets that were not very good at all… I posted about one of them that I hated, back in March of this year. I’m glad I didn’t have a similar experience at Tangers! All of the stores were wonderful, the prices were great, they actually had lots of stuff on sale and on clearance racks (which is where I always aim for) and the staff at every store was friendly and helpful. What more could you ask for? Well, I wish they were closer so I could shop there more often!

Tanger Outlets provided me with a gift card to shop at the outlets and share my experience on this blog. This did not affect my opinion of the outlets.

Mother’s Day Gift Idea: Tanger Outlets Part 1

Mother’s Day is on May 13th this year and you only have a few days left to shop! I always have a great time shopping for my mom because I know what she loves. We have similar tastes in clothes, food, decor and more so Mother’s Day shopping is kinda a treat for me!

This year, I did my Mother’s Day shopping at Tanger Outlets in Tilton, NH. It was about 1 hour and 45 minute drive from my house, so I definitely made a day of it. I got there at 11:00am and left around 7:00pm. Even with all that time, I didn’t get to stop at every store. They have such a huge selection of stores that it would definitely take me 2 or 3 days to shop in all of them.

My first stop was at Claires. Not only does my almost 5 year old daughter absolutely love Claire’s, but my mom is a huge fan of the store too! We spent about $49 in Claire’s and I got my mom a cool cowboy hat, a couple pairs of earrings and a scarf. I got a few things for my daughter and myself as well!

We saved an EXTRA 50% on Already Reduced Redline Items at Claires! The earrings were like $1 each pair. Here is what we scored…

We rented one of their little two-seater cars for the kids to sit in and that made shopping a lot easier and lot more fun for everyone!

After Claire’s, we stopped at Yankee Candle – one of my mom’s favorite stores. They had some amazing new scents, the biggest selection of candles I have ever seen in a Yankee Candle store before and some pretty good sales and promotions going on too.

They had special gifts just for mom…
