Tory Burch Ballet Flats: My New Favorite Shoes

Since I unfairly dumped all over Viktor + Rolf’s questionable shoe design yesterday, I feel like I have to make a karma deposit and tell you about a really wonderful pair of shoes today.  I’m a heels girl – always have been – the higher the better in my opinion.  I can make heels work with anything, and they serve a practical function in my household, given that my children tower over me by about 3″ and I need all the help I can get to maintain my authority and eye level contact with them.

A few weeks ago I went to Paris (it was wonderful!) but knew that the amount of walking I would be doing, coupled with the uneven sidewalks and cobblestone streets of the city, would spell disaster for my feet if I had to maneuver around in heels.  So I bought a pair of flats.  I put a lot of energy into finding the perfect pair that combined style, comfort, function, versatility, durability and panache.  This is what I came up with:

Tory Burch Caroline Patent ballet Flat $225.00

Tory Burch’s Caroline Patent Ballerina Flat totally delivered the goods.  It was comfortable, chic, went with every outfit I packed, and held up to miles of walking every day.   I like these shoes so much they have become my go-to shoes now that I’m back in my real life.  Who cares if I have to stand on a platform to be eye level with my kids!  My shoes look great and my feet are comfortable and happy.

So if you are looking to invest in a pair of workhorses (and I do mean invest, as these shoes are pricey) that will be there when you really need them, try a pair of Tory Burch flats.  They come in a wide variety of colors, styles and fabrics and hold up to heavy duty wear.  Tory Burch shoes are available at major department and speciality stores, as well as on-line at ToryBurch.com

I never thought I would literally feel like shouting to the world how much I love this bra. I mean, in your wildest dreams, could you ever imagine a bra SO comfortable that you could just shout for joy? Dance in jubilation?

Yes, I really found the most comfortable bra in the universe.

I, like most women, have about 5 million bras in my closet…. All of which are less than perfect. There is something wrong with almost every single one of them… I have a couple that are almost perfect and I thought I had found love at last…. until I met the Bra-llelujah! from SPANX.

Spanx? Bra-llelujah! Bra - Racerback Bra

Above is the bra I speak of… The fabulous and incredibly comfortable Spanx Bra-llelujah! Racerback Bra. The bra that makes all other bras look like paperweights. The bra that will literally change how you feel about wearing a bra.

Finally, you won’t be looking forward to the end of the day when you can rip the thing off and find relief. This bra is so comfortable you will actually forget you are wearing it. I’m not kidding! It really is that comfortable.

Looks great under all my clothes, even sheer tops. Straps aren’t too wide or super visible. My back looks smoother with this bra on too… No lines! I just love it!!

This bra has the most comfortable underwire support I have ever felt in a bra and a unique all-hosiery back and straps. With just one wear, you’ll be singing the praises of this life-changing bra. Bra-llelujah!? Seriously.

Summer Handbag: Linea Pelle Dylan Crossbody

We recently teamed up with Linea Pelle, our favorite handbag designer of all time, to offer our fabulous readers here on The Fashionable Housewife, a chance to win the hot Dylan Cross Body Carryall Handbag worth $295! The lovely Amanda S. from NJ won the bag! Congrats Amanda, we know you’ll LOVE this bag as much as we do!

DYLAN CROSS BODY CARRYALL-SND

This bag has it all! Class, style and lots of pockets!!!! Soft, supple leather that Linea Pelle is known for and intricate craftsmanship so your gorgeous handbag will last a lifetime. I especially like this bag because it looks great regardless of what you wear with it or how much you put in the bag. Some bags look goofy if you put too much stuff in them, but not this one. I loaded it up with all my goods including diapers and baby food (oh yes I did!) and it still looked great.

I am in Love with These Shoes!

Those who know me know my not so secret obsession with designer Rebecca Minkoff.   An industry leader in casual luxury handbags, accessories, and apparel, Rebecca Minkoff’s playful and subtly edgy designs can be spotted on women everywhere from downtown to uptown, in the US and abroad.  She recently launched her men’s line Ben Minkoff, and now she is designing shoes.  Be still, my heart!

Rebecca Minkoff Vamp $295

I was casually surfing the internet when I came across these beauties on Piperlime.com.  The style.  The colors.  The textures.  Pure perfection.  Nude and natural tone shoes are a wardrobe basic, and this shoe fits the bill, particularly if you live or work in a conservative environment.   Sophisticated and classy with enough personality to make you stand out in a crowd, this shoe might be your new best friend.

Another great RM shoe that may offer more versatility to your wardrobe is the Trot.  Super pricey but super stylish, this multi textured wedge works with jeans and skirts, casual and fancy outfits.

Rebecca Minkoff Trot $375

To justify the expense, I’d rather shell out bucks on shoes that will go the distance.  But maybe with gas prices the way they are, I should be shopping for a sturdy walking shoe!  If you’re out shopping this weekend, Nordstroms, Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdales  offer a great selection of Rebecca Minkoff apparel and accessories, but if you must have these shoes now, log on to Piperlime.com.

Spring Dresses Under $50

I don’t have a lot of cash to spend on a new wardrobe every season, so I love finding fashion bargains that look great but don’t put a huge dent in my wallet. Consider the following spring dresses – all of them are $50 or less! At these prices, you can afford to buy a few.

These Cross-Front Babydoll Dress from Old Navy come in five different colors/prints (I love the brown plaid!) and are the quintessential spring dress. Comfortable, lightweight fabric and the flattering babydoll silhouette ensure you’ll be wearing this dress all season long.

($25, Old Navy )

The classic A-line shape of this adorable dress, combined with the adjustable spaghetti strap top, will allow you to wear this throughout the spring and summer with comfort and ease. Dress is fully lined and features a cute licorice bow print and a banded sash belt for extra style points.

($44.99, ModCloth)

For a bit of an edgier look, this blue multicolor print dress from Hot Topic is your go-to dress for Spring and Summer. I love this dress not only because of the awesome multicolored prints, but because it has side pockets too! Simply throw this on, don a pair of heels and you’re good to go.

($34, Hot Topic)

I love, love, love the hot pink and black combo on this gorgeous dress! Worn on its own or as a cover-up over your bathing suit, this dress will keep you cool and comfortable even though the temperatures are heating up.
