What Not To Wear: Denim Outfits
There appears to be a new trend cropping up that needs to be stopped in it’s tracks and that is denim outfits, respectfully known as “Double Denim”. It’s a crime against fashion and you need to know the repercussions of allowing such a heinous trend to become popular.
The 80’s brought many bad trends like perms, mullets, acid wash jeans and plethora of other trends that should never be revived. One of those trends is denim outfits.
What is a denim outfit?

A denim outfit is wearing anything more than one article of clothing made out of denim. A denim jacket with denim jeans is just about the ugliest thing in the world, whether it’s matching denim, 2 different colors of denim or just mismatched washes. It’s ugly.
Who is responsible for reviving this god-forsaken trend?
- Our beloved William Rast had a lapse in mental capacity and ended up incorporating denim outfits into his Fall 2009 / Winter 2010 collection.
Why can’t I wear denim outfits?!
- Because it just doesn’t look good! If you wear a denim jacket with matching denim pants then you might as well go ahead and wear a tie dye shirt underneath, get a perm, wear go-go boots because if you’re gonna look stupid, you might as well go all out.
I have to say I don’t agree that wearing denim pants and jacket together is ugly. I don’t like the outfits on the pictures, but I don’t see why you can’t wear jeans, nice top and get a denim jacket as a topcoat? And even sometimes I wear jeans + denim Converse bag + flats made of fabric that looks like denim and looks so cute, that’s one of my favorite outfits.
I agree, double denim is a big No! I just hope Guess doesn’t capitalize this trend again.
Oh, man. That is trouble right there. Christina Ricci looks OK, but the others, especially JLH, look rough.
With jeans priced from $12.00 for a pair of Wranglers to $200.00 for designer jeans and now designer jean stores are opening up from Las Vegas to New York, looks like they are here to stay. Who would ever think the denim blue jean would get so popular when Strauss started his business?
These outfit are amazing i will not say that wearing denim jeans is bad thing. these new looks are the trend of the time.
hahaha around these parts we call jean outfits ‘joutfits’. not attractive.
Denim Jeans and Jacket is one of my fav outfits. I felt very comfy and free. Well, I respect those who do not want these kind of outfit but I wearing this kind of outfit is cute. I myself don’t follow the trend if it doesn’t look good on me.
