What is the price of a pink diamond?

Well, first things first, pink diamonds are very valuable on the market. To buyers, sellers and investors.

The reason for this is that they are very rare. If you look up the statistics, you won’t believe how much of a small percentage of diamonds produced annually are pink.

The demand for these products have increased greatly over the last few years. Thats why, it’s important to keep track of the price of a pink diamond.

These diamonds are produced in places such as Australia and Brazil. But production is said to have come to a halt.

Now is the time to get ahead of the game.

When we talk about pricing, a simple feature that dictates the price is very simply the carat. The carat refers to the weight. The greater carat, the greater price and vice versa.

Whatever carat you have in mind, the worth of a pink diamond can range between a staggering  200 to 600,000 dollars.

This can be based on the color variation.

However, when you search for pink diamonds on the web. You will get tons of results. Some diamonds may go for a few hundred dollars. This is why we need to know the requirements of a pink diamond that distinguishes it from valuable and non valuable.

Year by year metrics

To get a good idea of the current price, it’s good to get a bit of context.

The price of a standard pink diamond is expected to rise every year. From 2002, the price per carat was a little over $10,000. Fast forward to 2014 and you are looking at spending a little of $70,000.

You will be able to get metrics dating back from 1979. But the most important fact to takeaway is that demand and price is increasing.

It will be impossible to spot the difference between a naturally colored or lab created color. Which is why, if you aim for a naturally colored diamond, be sure to check its certificate of authenticity.

Natural colored diamonds hold a ton more value than lab created diamonds.

What to look for

The diamond can be complex but if you look for these specific requirements, you will get that perfect pink diamond.

Look at the following:

  • Natural colored.
  • Purest quality
  • Carat
  • Shape

Although you should consider the 4 C’s, these 4 points are more specific and easier to navigate.

Like I said before, the natural colored diamond is the best kind of diamond. It holds greater value and the price is obviously greater.

Once it is natural, the color grading scale will dictate the price. Vivid pink is the most expensive.

Purest quality. The term used here is clarity. Some pink diamonds have marks or errors on them. Make sure the clarity is as good as it can be.

When we talk about clarity, making sure that the diamond is polished expertly is another factor to take into account.

The most common and popular asset of the pink diamond is that it is best presented in an oval and round shape. Keep clear of square and rectangular designs.

If you go over each of these steps, this will ensure that you search for the highest valued pink diamond.

The takeaway

If you look into the 4 discussed points above. This will direct your search for pink diamonds that hold the greatest value.

But the pricing will be lowered, if these 4 steps are not considered.

The last point is to know how much you are willing to invest and pay, as this is a wide market.
