Latest Trends Spark Interest In Vintage Fashion
The fashion industry’s latest offerings spur a change in focus for online apparel retailer, Femminastyle.
Watsontown, PA (PRWEB) November 14, 2006 The tendency to look to fashion trends of the past for inspiration has been on the increase for the past few years. Industry buzzwords like “Old Hollywood” are thrown around commonly these days, leading to a rise in popularity for classic styles.
Online fashion retailer Femminastyle.com has seized this opportunity to shift their focus entirely on vintage clothing and accessories. The web store had been offering an even mix of vintage fashion and handmade items from a variety of independent designers since its inception in 2004, but has now changed to exclusively selling vintage items.
Anissa Mook, former fashion merchandising student at the Academy of Art University, San Francisco, and the owner of Femminastyle, says that the latest collections from modern designers have influenced her decision to offer only vintage products. “More and more, we’re seeing designer clothing that has an obvious lean toward classic styles,” says Anissa. “Much of what you see on the runway today is just a new spin on the same designs that came out thirty or forty years ago.”
This has led Femminastyle.com to amass a large inventory of authentic vintage clothing, ranging in date from the 1950s to the early ’80s. Femminastyle clearly isn’t the only one with an eye on vintage designs. Picking up any fashion or tabloid magazine will reinforce this, as many stars have been padding out their wardrobe with yesterday’s designs over the past few years. Notable celebrities such as Kate Hudson,
Sienna Miller, and MaryKate and Ashley Olsen have been using vintage clothing to achieve style icon status lately, and this has carried over into the modern designs that grace the racks at highend clothing boutiques.
With the impending holiday shopping season closing in, Anissa feels that Femminastyle.com may even prove to be a unique alternative for people who just can’t find the perfect gift. She says, “A vintage handbag or sweater can be a great way to add a personal touch and give something that you know will be cherished. Great style never really changes.”
