Trend Alert: Marsala “Wine” Is the 2015 Color of the Year
Pantone recently announced that 18-1438 Marsala is the 2015 Color of the Year! We think that this naturally robust and earthy red wine color is warm and sexy.
“Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal while its grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness,” says Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director, Pantone Color Institute.
I tend to agree. I can’t wait to see some tall leather boots in this color! Whoo whee!
I can just imagine though… I’ll buy a gorgeous Marsala colored blouse, wear it once and get baby spit up and boogers all over it. Guaranteed.
Being a mom of three, I know how hard it is to get stains out of clothes sometimes. You’re probably thinking “Well, just don’t wear white!” but it’s so much worse than that. This past Mother’s Day, I wore a gorgeous Cynthia Rowley dress in a faded eggplant purple color and my 3 year old son threw up all over me. I immediately took my dress off, put it in the bath tub, rinsed it off, spot treated it with a couple different products, hand washed it with laundry detergent, hung it up to dry and the next day… the stain was still there. I have yet to get that stain out… I have no idea why it won’t come out! It’s been just sitting on a hanger in my closet ever since.
All hope is not lost though. I just heard about Clorox® 2 Darks & Denim laundry detergent. It’s formulated with 2x the color boosting power and it removes 4x more stains than are removed with pre-treating alone. Best of all, it won’t cause fading!

Clorox Tips For Treating Stains
on Dark-Colored Clothes
For tough stains, like wine coffee and grass, be sure to pre-treat.
1. Remove the garment! Never treat clothing while wearing it!
2. Remove all loose dirt from the fabric and blot wet stains with a clean absorbent cloth.
3. Apply liquid Clorox® 2 Darks & Denim and rub it in.
4. Wait several minutes – don’t let it dry – then wash with like colors.
Tips For Treating Tough Stains
For Deodorant Stains
Apply liquid Clorox® 2 Darks & Denim directly to the deodorant stain and rub in. Wait 3-5 minutes (don’t let it dry on the fabric), then wash immediately in the hottest water recommended on the care label with detergent and additional Clorox® 2 Darks & Denim based on your load size.
For Coffee Stains
Rinse the stain from the back with cold water – it prevents it from sinking deeper into the fabric. When you’re home, pre-treat with Clorox® 2 Darks & Denim. Let the garment soak in cool water for a few minutes then launder with regular detergent on the hottest recommended water setting.
For Lipstick Stains
Whether in this season’s hottest shade of Marsala or another amazing shade – lipstick can spell disaster for clothes. Some people swear by hairspray to prevent it from setting on the go. When you get home put a clean, dry cloth on the stain. Dab (don’t rub) the back of the stain with dish soap on a damp cloth. Be careful not to transfer the lipstick back onto the garment. Wash on the hottest recommended water setting with regular detergent and Clorox® 2 Darks & Denim.
For Wine / Liquor Stains
It’s the holiday season, which means that while you’re getting festive, you may encounter a liquor or red wine spill. Before washing, pre-treat with Clorox® 2 Darks & Denim. Wash on the hottest recommended water setting with regular detergent and Clorox® 2 Darks & Denim.
Tips For Laundering Tough Stains
For wine stains, launder on the hottest recommended water setting
For coffee stains, soak in cool water for a few minutes after pretreating. Then launder as usual on the hottest recommended water setting
For grass stains, launder on the hottest recommended water setting.
With all stains, make sure the stain is gone before putting the item in the dryer! The heat in a machine dryer could cause the stain to further set and can make it permanent! (Trust me, I’ve done this!)
