holding hands

Let’s get real for a moment, shall we ladies? There is more to keeping the fire going in our marriages, than simply “looking good.” We talk a lot about skin care, beauty routines, fashion and fitness. Let’s stop and take a moment to talk about the other things that can affect our relationships and marriage.

It’s Not Just About Sex

There, I said it. While we all love a good roll in the hay that makes our toes curl, despite what the media wants you to think, it’s not all about sex! Actual studies have proven that no marriage was ever saved, or made successful by ensuring they had a great sex life. Of course, sex is important in a loving relationship, but it is not the be-all and end-all. The plain and simple truth is that the best marriages are between two people who engage in a lot of touching! Don’t forget that sex is only one form of touching! While it’s wonderful to enjoy a loving and fun sex life with your partner, don’t forget there are a lot of other factors to making (and keeping) a healthy, happy marriage!

She Just Needs A Hug

Truth is, sometimes we just need a hug. Can I hear an “Amen”? My husband has learned after 12+ years of being with me that sometimes I don’t need advice or need to talk about my feelings. Sometimes I don’t really need a solution to my problem at all, I just need a hug. Yep, that’s right. A good, old-fashioned embrace is all I need. I remember a few years back I told my husband that when I’m fuming and really angry about something, sometimes I just need a hug to make me feel better. Well, he looked at me like I was crazy! “Why would I want to hug an angry person? That could be dangerous!” he said. I laughed and explained that if he didn’t hug me when I seem angry, that it might be even more dangerous to his health! Wouldn’t you know, the next time I was really upset, that man came over to me and gave me a big hug. Words cannot express how much better that made me feel. Not only did it show me that he listened, but it made me realize in that moment, that my anger was not as important as I thought it was. So men, if your wife comes to you with a problem that has her feeling down or she’s really upset about something, don’t assume you need to say something witty or helpful: just open your arms, wrap them around her, and hold her tightly. Suddenly, her whole world will feel much better. Researchers have found that if you hug for at least 20 seconds, the happy hormone, Oxytocin, is released which will give you both a sense of happiness, love, and wellbeing.

Physical Touch Is More Important Than You Think

Physical touch is actually critical for building and strengthening romantic relationships and marriages. Meaningful physical affection is highly correlated with overall satisfaction in a relationship. I think it’s important to find any opportunity you can to show affection to your partner. Whether it’s placing your hand on their shoulder while they are doing a task, purposely brushing up against them when you walk by, or simply holding hands. It’s these small acts of love that you do during the day that will lead to… other things later on.

Another way you can enjoy physical contact is by giving your partner a massage. It might sound cliche, but your partner will appreciate it more than you think. We know that touch plays an important key role in deepening a loving connection with your partner and is critical for building an intimate connection, so don’t shy away from this simple act of love. Grab a bottle of new K-Y Touch 2-in-1 Massage Crème and Pleasure Gel, a touch activated gel crème that is perfect for massages and the intimate moments thate follow. The silky, 2-in-1 Massage Crème gently warms and intensifies sensations so that every touch, every caress, every stroke and every move builds a more intimate connection that you both will enjoy.

It’s time to slow down and take time to show your partner how much you care. K-Y Touch 2-in-1 Massage Crème and Pleasure Gel is a non-greasy, non-staining, touch activated massage cream and pleasure gel that will ignite your fire for each other as you take time to explore every inch of each other. The magic of touch is more powerful than you think!

So, before you think you need to go get another pedicure or try a new haircut to rekindle your fire, take time to just run your fingers through his hair, hug him tightly and tell him you care, or massage his back after a long day of work. You’ll be amazed at how touching each other will set off a cascade of pleasure for both of you!

Is physical touch important to you in your marriage? What are things you do to help you stay physically connected with your partner? Tell us in the comments!
