Facebook is kicking off itsย check-in deals for Places with a huge bang: the first 10,000 people to check in to Gap outlets after the deal goes live next week will receive a free pair of jeans.Facebook has beenย testing self-serve deals for its location product, Places, for a while now, but has refused to comment or acknowledge the project up until now. Deals will be opened up to the public now, and this promotion will help ensure that a lot of people hear about them.
Gap is teaming up with Facebook to give its fans some free stuff. Well, lots of free stuff. Today, Facebookย announced at its mobile event in Palo Alto, Calif. that the specialty retailer would give away a pair of jeans to the first 10,000 people who checked in on an upcoming day. (The specific date has yet to be disclosed.) Those who check in after the first 10,000 will receive 40% off a pair of jeans.
This is part of Facebookโs new โdealsโ program, which works a lot like Foursquareโs โdealsโ program. Checking into Facebook via your mobile phone will soon mean getting discounts at many of the shops youโre visiting.
If you’re not already a fan of Gap on Facebook seems like now would be a good time to become one.
Let us know if YOU get a free pair of jeans once this program goes live!
