Only you will know you sneaked into the rarefied group of Mercedes owners for less than the price of a new Toyota Corolla. Keep in mind though, when it’s time for maintenance and repairs, you’ll be in a Mercedes. Do everything you can to find the best-kept example possible.
You’ll have to go back a bit farther in time to get one of these for under $20,000, but their robust construction, timeless styling and outstanding road manners make the journey worthwhile. Look for something built around the 2009 model year and you should be able to slip in under $20k for a genuine Porsche SUV. You’ll get a powerful engine, outstanding handling and luxurious appointments. Keep in mind though Porsche repair costs are on the high side; be careful to find a well-maintained example.
