Fall is one of my favorite times of the year when it comes toย fashion! Tall leather boots, skinny jeans, trendy shirts and cozy sweaters. I love it all! Very rarely is there a hot fall trend that I’m not willing to try. Thankfully, the fall fashion trends for 2016 look like they will be totally wearable and easy to get on board with!
Fall Fashion Trends
It goes without saying that in fall, there are quite a number of trends you can try. ย Whether it’s a new color or a different style of shoe, don’t be afraid to try something new. Just keep in mind a few of the basics before you head to your local T.J. Maxx to go shopping. ย Try to choose wholesale clothing that fits well based on your body size, skin tone, and hair color.ย Donโt worry if you are a plus size, there are innumerable options out there for you too.
Personal Style
Regardless of what is hot and trendy right now, at the end of the day, your personal style will still count on the type of clothes you will wear. You shouldnโt axe your personality on the altar of trends that do not necessarily define who you are or what you believe in. If none of the fall fashion trends for 2016 appeal to you, then don’t wear them. You shouldn’t compromise who you are for fashion. We urge you to at least give some of them a try though because mixing things up and being a little adventurous can be more fun than you think!
Toteย Bags
If you are a mom, you are going to be thankful that large tote bags are a big trend this fall. Ditch the wristlet or clutch and dig out your favorite leather tote bag. If you don’t already have one, head into your local Marshalls and looks for a solid, neutral colored tote bag. It’s always best to go for a neutral color, especially in fall, because neutrals can complement a myriad of other colors in your wardrobe, regardless of the season. ย Don’t splurge a bag you’ll only use for one season. Thankfully with a leather tote bag, you don’t have to worry about it going out of style. Find one within your budget and make sure it best suits your unique needs. This is one bag you are bound to use year after year.
Metallics
This trend might not be for everyone, but I for one, LOVE metallics! It’s easy to get a little carried away with metallics, so stay minimal on accessories if you have a metallic shirt or dress on. You don’t want to overdo it! Wearing metallics head to toe with glitter makeup is not advisable. If you aren’t Lady GaGa, you probably can’t pull it off. Instead opt for a metallic bag and shoes or a metallic shirt with dark wash skinny jeans. Less is more when it comes to metallics.
Layering is Key
It goes without saying that fall is known for its unpredictable weather patterns, especially here in New Hampshire. As such, make it a point to ensure that you consider layering whenever possible.ย Whatever the hottest predicted temperature is, dress for that. Then from there, layer at least 2 layers on top of that. A great example would be a short sleeve shirt with a light cardigan, and then a denim jacket or ponte blazer on top. This way you can take off one layer at a time as the day progressively gets warmer. Any more than 5 layers and you risk being aย fashion disaster, so don’t overdo it!
Makeup
Another thing to consider is the type of makeup trends that are hot for fall. Generally, fall makeup trends stay the same except for eyeshadow and lipstick colors. This fall we’re looking for blackย eyeliner, dark shades of lipstick like cherry, deep purple and red! I’m also glad to see glitter is making a huge comeback for fall. I love glitter! To get the perfect fall makeup look, you can put on some foundationย to make your skin tone even and then go for a dramatic smokey eye look with a dark red lipstick.
Shoes & Boots
It’s time to put away your favorite sandals, wedges, and flip flops and pull out your closed-toe shoes such as sneakers, ballet flats, loafers, and boots. My favorite part of fall is wearing tall leather boots or short little ankle booties. So many different outfit possibilities! I’m getting excited just thinking of all my upcoming outfits.
