A new season means a new wardrobe and an array of new trends, designs, and colors to navigate. Although it appears this year, we are seeing a lot of fashion trends from 2016 being updated and recycled, the emphasis is more on color this season. Bright and bold colors will dominate this new season.
Spring Accessories
Chokers are still going strong this year, although if you’re looking to try something a little different opt for a pair of long pendant style necklaces. Longer necklaces are becoming increasingly popular and are a great way to dress up a low-cut top. Major 2016 trends such as the muted colors like khaki were still around but with a new ‘clear cut’ look and neater fabrics replacing the look of the undone raw seams style we saw last year.
Colors and Patterns
Although we still saw the khaki family of colors up on the runway, bright and bold statement colors dominated fashion week this season. It also looks as if mismatching bold colors to form a statement outfit is on the cards for 2017, with the likes of fuchsia the being ever present and daring color on the runway.
Replacing the floral designs from last season, we saw a major increase in the use of stripes in all shapes and sizes take over. They were on every garment imaginable, from dresses, tops and flared trousers. Paired with bright colors, stripes have shown that 2017 will be the year for making an impact, whatever you wear and wherever you go.
Get Inspired!
Here are a few tips and inspirational ideas on what to add to your wardrobe to keep you on top of your fashion game this season.
Cold Shoulders
An undeniable trend that captivated the hearts of fashion fanatics this season was focussed around the shoulders. The runway was saturated with 80’s inspired coats with shoulder pads – an unexpected turn-up, but fashionistas are loving it regardless.
A great way to incorporate this trend would be in the form of a relaxed duster coat to keep you warm until the warmer weather kicks in. It is likely this trend will carry on to dominate the winter 2017 season coats too.
Shoulder-less tops and dresses made an appearance, coming in the form of totally strapless bandeau style and cut out shoulders too. Pretty, yet understated with plenty of detailing, a shoulder-less top from outlets such as The Luxury Arcade is a wardrobe staple for this season.
Feminine Shades of Pink
If you managed to see any of the fashion shows this year it would be hard not to see the pink hues that hit the runway. Pink in every form possible was in every show this year. And when we say pink we mean vibrant, bold pink – fuchsia. The bright shades were seen layered together to create a vibrant look. When all that pink together was a bit much, designers toned it down, frequently pairing it with white.
White dresses
White, pretty dresses were everywhere at fashion week. With the new uplifting spring season coming, it was clear designers were ready to embrace the lighter and longer days with gorgeous and simple white dresses. Mainly in the form of floaty and ruffled dresses, the summer of 2016 saw the rise in shirt dresses, and these look set to stay.
A white off the shoulder shirt dress is a great wardrobe staple and you can’t go wrong when it comes to accessorizing. Easy to dress up with heels and a clutch or dress down with some espadrilles and a pendant necklace for a slight boho look, it’s the perfect option for those less likely to embrace the ‘bright and striped’ options.
With so many dresses online nowadays it is never too late to find the perfect piece to add to your wardrobe.
Whichever of these trends makes it into your wardrobe this Spring, wear it with confidence and you’re sure to rock the social scene – wherever you spend the Springtime.
